Routine Tasks, Critical Book Reviews, Critical Journal Reviews, Mini Research, Engineering Ideas, and Projects are the six assignments that must be completed for each topic at Universitas Negeri Medan each semester. Reading plays a crucial part in completing all of these responsibilities, of course. A thorough reading provides precise knowledge for carrying out all activities. Creating effective learning strategies is essential to avoiding extremely boring reading and offering difficulties. The study's objectives are to look into how recitation learning techniques have evolved for student reading comprehension. The information was gathered through observation, surveys, and interviews to determine students' reading comprehension proficiency. Utilizing a modeldevelopment approach to research, this development research uses both qualitative and quantitative data. The goal of this study is to create recitation techniques for online instruction to improve the reading comprehension abilities of students enrolled in Universitas Negeri Medan's English Literature Study Program. It is anticipated that the findings of this study will help both the lecturers who teach reading subjects and the students who take such subjects to be more effective and efficient in employing the right learning strategies.
This study analyzed the types of sentences used in the Abstracts of Journal Articles written by 10 Female and 10 Male fully sourced from the Book Program of The First Annual International Seminar UNIMED Medan: November 19, 2016. Of the 195 sentences, 102 of which were written by females, and 92 by Males, all types of sentences are present. The occurrence of the types of sentence used by Females is Simple Sentence (50.1%), Complex Sentence (37.1%), Complex - Compound Sentence (6.8%), and Compound Sentence (4.9%). By Males , Simple Sentence is (50.%), Complex Sentence (41%), Compound Sentence (5.4%) and Complex- Compound Sentence (3.3%). Thus, this proves that the frequency is only different in Complex-Compound, i.e. by Females in the third place, but by Males in the fourth and Compound in the third. Overall, it can be concluded that gender has no relation with sentence types.Key Words: Types of sentence; Female and Male; Abstracts
This study aimed to develop case method-based course materials on Culture in ELT Subjects for students of the English education study program at Universitas Negeri Medan. It was conducted by using Research and Development (R&D) design. The subject of this study was 25 students in the fourth semester taken from 3 classes (C, D, and E) of the English Education study program academic year of 2021/2022. Borg, and Gall‘s research theory (1983) is used in this research, there are several procedures conducted namely gathering data and information, need analysis, designing course material, validating and evaluating new course material by the experts, and revising the course material and final product. The instruments used to collect the data were questionnaires, interviews, and expert judgment questionnaires. The data resulted from needs analysis and interviews with students and lecturers. The product of this study was English Culture on ELT course materials for the English Education Study Program based on the case method, which consists of five units. Based on the expert judgment, the whole aspects of developed materials were 81-100% and can be categorized as “very good“.
This paper aims to compare and analyze the five poems that written by five different poets to find the implicature in all that poems and try to find the literal meaning behind every poem that the writer took as their data. And for this research, the writer comes with the qualitative study with the descriptive method to analyze this research, where with this method the writer attempt to describe and interpret the object of the research because the data has presented descriptively. The analysis of this research has been done with read the poem thoroughly to find the implicature from the poem then describing how the types represented in each poem, and explaining the significant differences among the five poems.
T he development of course materials using case method was the purpose of this research.. Students in the English Education studies program will use these course resources for their ELT classes on culture. In this study, research and development (R&D) design is applied. 25 students from three English Education study program classes (C, D, and E) in the fourth semester of the academic year 2021 -2022 participated in this study. Some procedures were required for this study, including data collection, need analysis, course material design, expert validation and evaluation of new course material, and course material revision and final product revision. Questionnaires, interviews, and expert judgment questionnaires were used to gather the data. T he data was taken from interviews with lecturers and students for needs analysis. T his study's output included five English Culture for English Language teaching units. T he material is cased method-based. According to professional evaluation, all areas of the generated materials scored between 81 and 100 percent, which is considered "very good."
