However, a close inspection of the situation in American education seems to reveal one trend of recent years that is undeniable; that is, there is remarkable agreement on the fundamental proposition that specialization should not start too early, that a broad background in the various fields of knowledge is prerequisite to genuine success in any one narrow field of endeavor.
