We obtain a Bonnet–Myers theorem under a spectral condition: a closed Riemannian {(M^{n},g)} manifold for which the lowest eigenvalue of the Ricci tensor ρ is such that the Schrödinger operator {\Delta+(n-2)\rho}
is positive has finite fundamental group. Further, as a continuation of our earlier results, we obtain isoperimetric inequalities from Kato-type conditions on the Ricci curvature. We also obtain the Kato condition for the Ricci curvature under purely geometric assumptions.
This article shows that under locally uniformly integral bounds of the negative part of Ricci curvature the heat kernel admits a Gaussian upper bound for small times. This provides general assumptions on the geometry of a manifold such that certain function spaces are in the Kato class. Additionally, the results imply bounds on the first Betti number.
We prove distance bounds for graphs possessing positive Bakry-Émery curvature apart from an exceptional set, where the curvature is allowed to be non-positive. If the set of non-positively curved vertices is finite, then the graph admits an explicit upper bound for the diameter. Otherwise, the graph is a subset of the tubular neighborhood with an explicit radius around the non-positively curved vertices. Those results seem to be the first assuming non-constant Bakry-Émery curvature assumptions on graphs.
Quantitative unique continuation principles for multiscale structures are an important ingredient in a number applications, e.g. random Schrödinger operators and control theory.We review recent results and announce new ones regarding quantitative unique continuation principles for partial differential equations with an underlying multiscale structure. They concern Schrödinger and second order elliptic operators. An important feature is that the estimates are scale free and with quantitative dependence on parameters. These unique continuation principles apply to functions satisfying certain 'rigidity' conditions, namely that they are solutions of the corresponding elliptic equations, or projections on spectral subspaces. Carleman estimates play an important role in the proofs of these results. (2000). 35J10, 35J15, 35B60, 35B45.

We prove a Carleman estimate for elliptic second order partial differential expressions with Lipschitz continuous coefficients. The Carleman estimate is valid for any complex-valued function u ∈ W 2,2 with support in a punctured ball of arbitrary radius. The novelty of this Carleman estimate is that we establish an explicit dependence on the Lipschitz and ellipticity constants, the dimension of the space and the radius of the ball. In particular we provide a uniform and quantitative bound on the weight function for a class of elliptic operators given explicitly in terms of ellipticity and Lipschitz constant.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
