Aktuelle Darstellungen, die sich detailliert mit der Gesamtgeschichte der deutschen juristischen Literatur und insbesondere mit der des 20. Jahrhunderts befassen, bestehen nicht. Umso verdienstvoller ist es, dass Dietmar Willoweit für den Verlag C.H. Beck aus Anlass des 75. Geburtstages des Verlegers Hans Dieter Beck -der zusammen mit seinem Bruder Wolfgang Beck in sechster Generation Inhaber des Beck-Verlages ist und den Verlagszweig Recht, Steuern und Wirtschaft leitet -einen umfangreichen Sammelband herausgegeben hat, der sich der jüngeren juristischen Literaturgeschichte widmet. So behandeln dort auf 1.221 Seiten nach zwei einführenden Beiträgen von Willoweit 50 Autoren die Literaturentwicklung des 20. Jahrhunderts in 29 ausgewählten Rechtsgebieten sowie die Geschichte von 23 wichtigen Einzelwerken -vor allem Kommentare und Lehrbücher -des Beck-Verlages. 1 Auf Grund der Themenfülle fallen die einzelnen Beiträge vielfach notgedrungen knapp aus und bilden zumeist nicht mehr als den Nukleus einer Beschreibung. Hinzu kommen ein Beitrag von Hoeren zur Entwicklung der elektronischen Medien im rechtswissenschaftlichen Bereich und ein Beitrag des Geehrten zu den "neueren Entwicklungen des Verlagsunternehmens C.H. Beck". Personen-und Sachverzeichnis runden den Sammelband ab, wobei ein Beitrag zum Geehrten selbst fehlt. Generell nicht betrachtet wird in dem Sammelband die Geschichte der juristischen Zeitschriften im 20. Jahrhundert, ohne die eine rechtswissenschaftliche Literaturgeschichte nicht vorstellbar ist und die insbesondere den Beck-Verlag vor allem nach 1945 geprägt haben. Diese Lücke füllt eine gleichzeitig erschienene Monographie von Hermann Weber, der in insgesamt dreizehn Kapiteln die Beck'schen Zeitschriften bis 1945, die Gründung der NJW 1946 und ihre weitere Entwicklung unter Einschluss der Beilagen und der NJW-Schriftenreihe, die JuS, die zahlreichen "Ergänzungszeitschriften" zur NJW, die Zeit der Wiederverei-I.
