This study examined the effect of service quality delivery on consumer’s choice of fast foods outlets. Cross-sectional survey research design was adopted. Primary data was collected from respondents using structured questionnaire. Simple regression in the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) was adopted to analyze the data collected. Consequently, it was found that service tangibility, reliability, responsiveness, assurance and empathy had significant effects on consumer’s choice of fast foods. Thus, it was recommended amongst others, that fast food outlets should be more responsive to consumers’ service requirements by rapidly eliciting and resolving consumers’ enquiries and complaints; consistently deliver fast, strong and reliable service; ensure their personnel treat consumers with politeness and consideration at every point of service encounter and constantly seek ways to offer freshness in order to remain relevant in the market place.
The purpose of the study is to investigate the dynamic capabilities of family business as a catalyst for survival and growth in Nigeria. A quantitative technique involving a descriptive survey was adopted for the study. A questionnaire measurement instrument was constructed and deployed on a sample of 410 respondents in the selected family businesses. Copies of the questionnaire measurement instrument were conveniently distributed to employees of the selected family businesses to obtain data for the study. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) was used to validate the constructs in the measurement instrument. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used to estimate the structural relationship between constructs of family business dynamic capabilities for survival and growth. The results showed that sensing and seizing, learning and reconfiguration and succession planning capabilities of family business have a significant positive effect on survival and growth. Therefore, family business managers should effectively deploy sensing and seizing, learning and reconfiguration and succession planning capabilities to enhance business survival and growth. AcknowledgmentsThe authors express gratitude to anonymous reviewers, the journal editor and all the authors whose works were used in this study. The authors are grateful to the management of the family businesses included in the study for their approval for the administration of the questionnaire instrument and to the survey respondents who gave their views on the issues raised in the questionnaire instrument.
The purpose of the study is to investigate the influence of health and safety training, safety monitoring, and enforcement of compliance on employee efficiency in manufacturing firms. The research employed the quantitative approach involving a descriptive survey. A sample size of 360 respondents was randomly selected for the study. A questionnaire instrument was used in gathering primary data for the study. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was used in providing a comprehensive validation of the measurement instrument. The required inferential statistics including normality, multicollinearity, and heteroscedasticity tests were performed and were satisfactory. Structural Equation Model (SEM) was used to estimate structural relationships between health and safety training, safety monitoring and enforcement of compliance on employee efficiency. The research results showed that health and safety training has a significant positive effect on employee efficiency with a p-value of 0.000; safety monitoring has a significant positive effect on employee efficiency with a p-value of 0.000 and enforcement of compliance has a significant positive effect on employee efficiency with a p-value of 0.000. The research brings to the fore and creates awareness on the influence of health and safety training, safety monitoring, and enforcement of compliance to safety and health standard towards enhancing workers' safety, health and welfare for improved employee efficiency. Manufacturing firms should ensure adequate health and safety training and proper safety monitoring and enforcement of compliance to safety and health standard to reduce accidents and improve employee efficiency and performance.
The study investigated the mediating effect of job satisfaction on health and safety policy management and employee productivity in manufacturing firms in Nigeria. For the study, a quantitative analytical method was adopted, including a descriptive survey. To obtain data for the study, a questionnaire instrument was constructed and distributed among 950 sampled respondents in selected manufacturing firms in Nigeria. The descriptive statistics was deployed in the data analysis, while the multiple regression analysis was used to test the study hypotheses at the 0.05 level of significance. The mediating effect of job satisfaction on health and safety policy management and employee productivity relationship was confirmed using the Sobel test with the aid of MedGraph. The results showed that hazard prevention and control policy have a significant positive effect on employee productivity. Risk assessment policy have a significant positive effect on employee productivity. Also, job satisfaction has a significant positive mediating effect on the health and safety policy management and employee productivity relationship. Therefore, manufacturing firms should take appropriate measures to prevent and control hazards and provide effective risk assessments to improve health and safety policy management. AcknowledgmentsThe authors express gratitude to anonymous reviewers, the journal editor and all the authors whose work were used in this study. The authors are grateful to the management of manufacturing firms included in the study for having given approval for the administration of the questionnaire instrument, and the survey respondents for providing their views on the issues raised in the questionnaire instrument on health and safety policy management (hazard prevention and control policy and risk assessment policy), employee productivity and job satisfaction.
This study investigated the influence of time pressure perception and social ties on the supplier selection decisions and performance of public firms in a typically polychronic cultural setting. Using a structured questionnaire, data were collected from 342 senior level personnel in 40 public sector organizations in Nigeria and analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM) techniques. The study’s results indicate that while time pressure has no significant influence on supplier selection decision, its impact on performance is significant and negative. The results also show that social ties are significant positive predictors of supplier selection decisions, but their relationship with performance is insignificant. However, the study also found that supplier selection decisions positively influence performance, and supplier selection decisions positively mediates the relationship between social ties and perceived performance. Based on the study’s findings and conclusions, important implications for practice and suggestions for further research are discussed.
