Mi~ 6 Tafeln und 2 Abbildungen im Text.Seit der VerSffentlichung yon Saugm~n (15)in der Zeitschrift fiir Tuberkulose im Friihjahr 1908 ist die Behandlung mit kfinstlicher Pneumothoraxbildung im Vejlefjord Sanatorium fortgesetzt worden. I)a wir nun') etwa 50 Kranke d~mit behandelt haben und fiber mehr als 2'/~j~hrige Erfahrungen fiber die Wirkung dieser Methode verfiigen, haben wir gemeint, dass der Zeitpunkt gekommen sei, unsere damit gemachten Erfahrungen zu verSffentlichen.Die vorliegende Arbeit wird eine rein klinische sein, und theoretische ErSrterungen werden nur insofern Erw~hnung finden, als die Erkl~rung der klinischen Erscheinungen es gebietet, indem weltergehende theoretische Betrachtungen und die Ergebnisse experimenteller Untersuchungen (;egenstand einer sp~teren Arbeit yon einem yon uns sein werdeIl.Das Hauptprinzip der Behandlung ist durchweg das F o r la n inische (6)gewesen, jedoch haben wir uns die Ert~hrungen yon Brauer (2) und seinen Schfilern, die in so vielen hervorragenden Arbeiten mitgeteilt sind, stets zunutzen gemacht.Abgesehen yon den allerersten sind alle unsere Einblasungen mittelst Saugmans Modifikation des Forlaninischen Apparates J) September 1909. Der Zweckdieser Modifikation, bei der das Manometer so angebracht ist, dass es sowohl mit dem Luftbeh~lter als mit dem Nadellumen, getrennt oder zusammen, in u gesetzt werden kann, ist, dass man immer den Druck, der an der Spitze der Nadel herrscht, messen kann, ehe man die Luft einfliessen l~sst, und stets in der Lage ist, festzustellen, mit welchem Drucke die Luft hineingeblasen wird, und welcher intrapleurale Druck nach dem Einfliessen beliebiger Luftmengen in der PleurahShle herrscht. Dies ist bei den bis jetzt bekannt gewordenen Apparaten F o rl an in is ausgeschlossen, indem das Manometer, und zwar nur ein relatives, nicht ein absolutes, dort so angebracht ist, dass es nur durch die einzufliessende LuftsSmle mit dem Nadellumen in Verbindung steht, so dass nicht nur jede absolute Messung des intrapleuralen Druckes oder des Injektionsdruekes ausgeschlossen ist, sondern auch das Manometer nur in Verbindung mit dem Luftbehg~lter --hie ohne diese Verbindung --flmktioniert. Wenn man nur die bis jetzt yon Forlanini beschriebenen Apparate benutzt, ist man sowohl fiber den anfSmglichen intrapleuralen Druck, als fiber die l)ruckverh~tltnisse in der PleurahShle unter oder nach der Insufflation in vollst~ndigster Unkenntnis, und gerade die Messung dieser Drukwerte ist ffir uns der Angelpunkt der ganzen Teehnik. Obwohl der Apparat nur ganz geringfiigige :~_nderungen seit der VerSffentlichung Saugmans erfahren hat, finden wir es doch angezeigt eine genaue Beschreibung des Instrumentariums der Auseinandersetzung der Technik vorauszuschicken. Der Apparat besteht aus zwei etwa 600 ccm fassenden, oben und unten verschm~ilerten Glaszylindern, unten als ein U-rohr durch einen starken, kurzen Gummischlauch verbunden, auf einem tr~gbaren Gestell...
