This study determined basic records life cycle management competencies required by secretaries in offices. The population was 298 secretaries. Structured questionnaire was used. The instrument was validated by three experts. Its internal consistency was determined using Cronbach Alpha and the result was a high reliability coefficient of 0.75. Data collected were analysed using mean and standard deviation, while t-test was used to test the null hypothesis. The findings of the study showed, that secretaries require all the basic records lifecycle competencies identified by this study. Based on the findings, some recommendations were made including that the training institutions should ensure that they incorporate into their curriculum offerings to prepare graduates for management of records in offices.
This is a survey research aimed at determining the impact of National Universities Commission's accreditation exercise on personnel in the business education programmes of the universities in the Southeast Geopolitical Zone of Nigeria. One research question and one null hypothesis guided the study. The population comprised 66 respondents made up of 6 directors of academic planning and 60 academic staff of the departments of Business Education of the six universities in the zone. A researcherdeveloped instrument duly validated by three experts was used for data collection. Test re-test method was used for testing the reliability of the instrument. With the use of the Pearson Product Moment, the reliability coefficient correlation was found to be 0.86 which was considered adequate for the study. The mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research question while t-test was used to test the null hypothesis.
This study determined the microfilming functions used by the secretaries in managing office records in government establishments in Anambra State, Nigeria.The population was 298 secretaries.Structured questionnaire was used.The instrument was validated by three experts.Its internal consistency was determined using Cronbach Alpha and the result was high reliability coefficient of 0.61.Data collected were analysed using mean and standard deviation, while t-test was used to test the null hypothesis.The findings showed that secretaries used most of the micro-filming functions identified by this study.Based on the findings, it was recommended amongst others that the training institutions should ensure that they instruct trainee secretaries on the skills needed to manage records effectively and efficiently in offices.Such skills should also be incorporated into the office technology and management curriculum.
