This research work developed Electronic Notice Board (ENB) for the faculty community. The purpose is to upgrade the already existing manual method of information dissemination, so as to improve the administrative work of the faculty, and to create an enabling environment for more efficient and friendly means of information delivery. It will improve the rate at which staff and students participate in faculty events and activities. The conventional notice board is one of the oldest methods used in information delivery and announcements to students. Students go to where the notice board is mounted in other to read updates or announcements. Use of wall notice board in every place is a tedious work since it needs to be updated regularly and with correct and right information manually. Few of the problems that necessitated the need for ENB are; inadequate time to read all the relevant information pasted newly on a notice board as a result of tight schedule since the copies are limited. Limited time-lag of newly pasted notice since people mutilate, remove or destroy the paper notices from the board leaving others uninformed. Some of the objectives are to enable individuals to view the update from their various devices from any location. To enable instant update to all users since notice is online. To allow individuals download and store copies of original information intact. Generally, it looks at the existing faculty notice boards, building a system that makes it run by the internet access or by local area network (LAN) so as to increase the rate at which relevant information is being disseminated to the faculty community with no location restriction. The user is kept updated each time the E-Notice Board is updated based on their categories through an SMS alert. This system intends to simplify and improve the University faculties to perform their daily activities since most of the school organs uses computerized system. This research work was designed using Object Oriented Analysis and Design Methodology (OOADM) and implemented using Hypertext Pre-Processor (PHP), Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), Bootstrap, Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) as front-end and My Structural Query Language (MYSQL) database as back-end.
A Web portal aggregates an array of information for a target audience and affords a variety of services including search engines, directories, news, e-mail, and chat rooms, and they have evolved to provide a customized gateway to Web information. Also, a high level of personalization and customization has been possible. The portal concept could further be established to function as a classy Web interface that can serves as sustenance for variety of the task performance. The aggregate information Web portal will serve as portals for the information needs of users on the web. The Web based portal enable marketing of users broadly across a wide variety of interests. Most of the popular usage of the Web based aggregate information portal probably refers to the visual and user interface (UI) design of a Web site. It is a crucial aspect since the visitor is often more impressed with looks of website and easy to use rather than about the technologies and techniques that are used behind the scenes, or the operating system that runs on the web server. In other words, it just does not matter what technologies that is involved in creating, when the site is hard to use and easy to forget. This paper explores the factors that must be painstaking during the design and development of a Web based aggregate information portal. Design as a word in the context of a Web application can mean many things. A working Web based aggregate information portal, kaseremulticoncept was developed to support the various users’ task performances. A number of technologies was studied and implemented in this research, which includes multi-tier architecture, server and client side scripting techniques and technologies such as PHP programming languages and relational databases such as MySQL, Structured Query language (SQL) and XAMPP Server.
The unprecedented interest of the millennial generation towards the use of social media devices (SMDs) has increasingly become a source of concern to academics in the Nigerian. A deviation from the planned academic culture, distraction and divided attention among the millennia's, occasioned by their engrossment in SMDs, necessitated this study. The study was carried out in four Nigerian universities; two federal and two state, with four research questions and five hypotheses guiding the study. The population comprised of 3,960 three hundred level (third year) students from both the federal and state universities. A stratified random sampling based on gender and individual consent was employed. The instrument used for data collection, developed by the researchers was titled "Attitude of the Millennial Generation towards Social Media Usage". The questionnaire was trial tested and the reliability coefficient for the four sections were; A = 0.80; B = 0.92, C= 0.82, D=0.84. Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation and rank for research questions and an independent samples t-test was used to test the null hypotheses. The results showed that the millennials have a positive attitude towards the usage of SMDs for social activities but a negative attitude for using these devices for academic purposes. There is no significant difference in their attitude based on gender and WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook were the most frequently used devices in the Nigerian universities. Some recommendations were made that the millennials should be refocused to using SMDs for academic purposes and not just social activities.
