This study investigates factors that predict consumers’ perceptions of healthiness of organic tea. Furthermore, this study also examines the relationship between perceived healthiness and purchase intention with the mediating role of consumers’ attitudes toward organic tea. Because China has been the largest producer and the largest market of the global tea market, this study collects sample data from consumers at different tea stores in China. Using structural equation modelling to analyze data, results indicate that product quality, consumer service, in-store experience, store prestige, and store innovativeness are important predictors of consumers’ perceptions of healthiness of organic tea. Furthermore, results show that perceived healthiness has a positive influence on purchase intention toward organic tea. Consumers’ attitudes toward organic tea also has a positive mediating effect into this relationship.
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to explore the relationship between career growth opportunity (CGO), well-being and turnover intention of new employees, and also probe into the moderating role of shared vision (SV) in organizations.
Design/methodology/approach
In total, 253 new employees participated in this study, and the partial least squares analysis was adopted to analyze the data.
Findings
The study findings have indicated that CGO will play a key role in determining emotional exhaustion (EE) and job satisfaction. Additionally, a positive connection between EE and turnover intention, a negative relationship between EE and job satisfaction, as well as a negative link between job satisfaction and turnover intention have been found in this study. Finally, it has been demonstrated that SV will moderate the connection between CGO and EE, the relationship between CGO and job satisfaction, the link between EE and turnover intention as well as the correlation between job satisfaction and turnover intention.
Originality/value
Although there are numerous studies related to CGO, well-being and turnover intention, relatively little attention has been paid to the connection between CGO, well-being and turnover intention of new employees. With particular respect to the impact of SV on organizational outcomes, there is still a dearth of research examining the moderating role of SV in organizations.
Few studies have been devoted to the exploration of the effect of clinical pathways on coronary artery diseases treated with coronary artery bypass (CAB) surgery. This study was aimed to investigate the cost and effectiveness of the clinical pathway on CAB surgery in a medical center. With a retrospective dataset in 2003-2007, 212 CAB surgery patients were included. Data of the costs and postoperative complication occurrence and length of stays were the focus and patient demographics, surgical risk indicator EuroSCORE, surgical conditions were collected. It revealed that there was differentiation across specified cost items in beating heart CAB surgery patients, but not for heart arrest CAB surgery patients with and without clinical pathways enrolled. In addition, there was no difference in postoperative complication occurrence in CAB surgery patients enrolled into clinical pathways. However, robotic beating heart CAB surgery patients enrolled clinical pathways were shown to have less postoperative ordinary ward stay than those not enrolled clinical pathways. CAB surgery patients' age and surgical risks were related to their postoperative lengths of stay to some extent.
The microstructural evolution and shear strength of Ti 50 Ni 50 SMA and 316L SS infrared brazed with a gold-based filler metal Au-22Ni-8Pd (BAu-6) at 1050°C for 180 and 300 s were investigated. The results of dynamic wetting angle measurement indicate that Au-22Ni-8Pd filler metal exhibits rather good wettability on Ti 50 Ni 50 and 316L SS substrates if the specimens are brazed at 1050°C for longer than 100 s. Experimental results of SEM BEIs and EDS/WDS show that the joint brazed for 300 s is composed of a layer of Ni 3 Ti+ TiNiAu lamellae, a layer of TiNiAu and Ti(Au,Ni) 4 intermetallics, and a layer of TiNi 2 Au one at Ti 50 Ni 50 substrate side, and is a layer of the mixture of (Ni, Fe)+(Au) solid solutions and a layer of (Ni, Fe) solid solution with no interfacial reaction compound formed at 316L SS substrate side. All the formed lamellae/layers increase in thicknesses as the brazing time is prolonged, which prevents the brittle Ni 3 Ti lamellae from contacting the layer of TiNi 2 Au. Accordingly, the joint shear strength improves as the brazing time increases. The shear strength of a joint brazed for 300 s can reach 204 MPa, where the fracture crack begins around the interface of the TiNi 2 Au and layer TiNiAu/Ti(Ni,Au) 4 layers. Cleavage-dominated fracture is observed in SEI fractographs.
This article investigates the behaviour of speculative trading activities for the speculative market at the Taiwan stock index futures (TX futures) over the period 1 January 2000 to 31 October 31 2007. By testing the impact of contemporaneous (lagged) speculative trading activities for futures return and conditional volatility, we examine tax and seasonal effects for speculative trading activities. Our empirical results reveal a positive relationship of contemporaneous speculative trading activities for daily futures return and conditional volatility, and a negative relationship of lagged speculative trading activities and conditional return volatility. Furthermore, we incorporate speculation ratio into Glosten, Jagannathan and Runkle-Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroscedastic (GJR-GARCH) model and find asymmetric volatility in conditional return of TX futures. In addition, evidence shows that speculative trading activities significantly increased in the period following the reduction in the rate of transaction tax, and significantly decreased on Monday. Finally, we support seasonal behaviour for speculative trading activities on the TX index futures.
An 82-year-old woman underwent endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) for obstructive jaundice. The site of sphincterotomy was extended, and segmental stricture was detected. Brushing cytology was subsequently performed, and a stent was inserted into the lesion. Immediately after the procedure, the patient developed tachypnea, hypoxia and bradycardia followed by asystole. The spontaneous circulation quickly returned after cardiopulmonary resuscitation, endotracheal intubation and chest tube placement. Meanwhile, we identified progressive diffuse subcutaneous emphysema, and computed tomography (CT) revealed pneumomediastinum, pneumothorax and severe extended subcutaneous emphysema (Picture). We considered the patient's sudden collapse to be the result of tension pneumothorax. She subsequently received treatment with broad spectrum antibiotics and bowel rest and was ultimately discharged after an uneventful hospital stay, without additional sequelae. The development of air leakage after ERCP carries significant morbidity and mortality, with a reported incidence of 0.3-2.1% (1). Non-surgical management has been shown to be increasingly successful in such cases (2).
