The synthesis of a series of N-mono-and bis-alkylated derivatives of 4,5-diamino-l,-8-dihydroxyanthraquinone is described. These compounds dye synthetic polymer fibres in blue to greenish-blue shades of good fastness properties; bis-alkylation results in decreased substantivity, but excellent dyes result from the use of mixtures of monoand bis-alkylated derivatives.
N-alkylated derivatives of Ianilino8amino-1,5dih ydroxyanthraquinone and of 4anilinoSamino-1,8dihydroxyanthraquinone are obtained either by reaction of the corresponding nitro derivatives with alkylamines or of the corresponding amino derivatives with alk yl halides. They are excellent dyes for polyester fibre, giving deep greenish-blue dyeings of good fastness to light and sublimation.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
