El presente trabajo intenta precisar las posibilidades reproductivas futuras de 92 pacientes que han presentado embarazo ectópico. Se hizo seguimiento durante un periodo mayor de 2 años a 90 pacientes. Se separó aquellas que no tenían posibilidad de gestar, sea porque habían sido esterilizadas o por que habían adoptado algún método anticonceptivo, quedando finalmente 63 pacientes que sí tenían la posibilidad de embarazarse (70916 del total) y en ellas se estableció la frecuencia de embarazo, los resultados del mismo y la frecuencia de infertilidad ulterior. Encontramos que la frecuencia de embarazo ectópico en el HAMA es de 1 en 147 partos, siendo más frecuente en multíparas y en edades entre 26 y 30 años. Entre los antecedentes fue importante encontrar un 35,8%. de abortos, 10,9% de EPI, 4,3% de tuberculosis, 2,2% de embarazo ectópico. Entre los procedimientos quirúrgicos previos, resaltaron el antecedente de legrado uterino en el 30,4%, cesárea en el 6%, apendicectomía en el 4,3016. El antecedente de uso de DIU se encontró en el 22,8%. La localización más frecuente fue la trompa, sobre todo en el tercio externo; se registra, además, 3 casos de embarazo ovárico y un caso a nivel intraligamentario. El tratamiento más comúnmente usado fue la salpinguectomía y la saoingooforectomía debido a la altafrecuencia de casos complicados. Entre los 63 casos conposibilídades de embarazarse y que fueron seguidos durante más de 2 años, 37 gestaron (41,1% sobre el total y 58,7% de frecuencia corregida). De los 3 7 casos que gestaron, 21 terminaron con niño vivo (23,3% del total y 33,0% de frecuencia corregida). Hubo 6 casos de aborto (16%). Se registró 10 casos de embarazo ectópico (27% sobre los embarazos logrados y 11% del total de casos seguidos). La frecuencia de infertilidad fue 28,8% (26 casos) sobre el total y la frecuencia corregida fue 41,3%. En conclusión, el embarazo ectópico afecta negativamente el potencial reproductivo de la mujer.
