L'ordinateur est utilisé dans les classes de physique et chimie en tant qu'instrument de laboratoire permettant la réalisation de mesures et leur analyse par le jeu des représentations graphiques et la modélisation mathématique. Une telle utilisation de moyens informatiques par les élèves, si elle se veut raisonnée et s'inscrire dans des activités scientifiques, ne peut ignorer l'existence d'un certain nombre de savoirs et de savoir-faire spécifiques qu'il convient alors défaire acquérir aux élèves. Nous présentons ici un travail mené dans le cadre d'une recherche de l'Institut National de Recherche Pédagogique. À partir de l'analyse défiches de travaux pratiques et d'observations de classe nous avons identifié les savoirs et savoir-faire mis en oeuvre. Cette liste a été dans un premier temps utilisée comme grille d'analyse descriptive des activités en travaux pratiques. Le corpus étudié montre essentiellement un appauvrissement de l'implication cognitive des élèves. Ceci nous a conduit, dans un second temps, à élaborer et tester une hiérarchisation permettant, notamment, de proposer un ensemble de savoirs et savoir-faire considérés comme "exigibles" d'élèves enfin de cycle scientifique.
