La arteria ciática persistente (ACP) constituye una rara anomalía, se da por la falta de desarrollo de la arteria femoral superficial, su incidencia es del 0,01 al 0,05% y se presenta en forma bilateral en alrededor de un 12 a 20% de los casos. La clasificación más utilizada las divide en completas e incompletas, con la primera como la más frecuente. El diagnóstico de la ACP depende de la presentación clínica del paciente y del examen físico. La manifestación clínica más frecuente es la isquemia de miembro inferior. El hallazgo clínico más indicativo de una ACP es la presencia de una masa glútea pulsátil. La angiografía es considerada el gold standard para su diagnóstico. No hay consenso sobre la mejor terapéutica para esta entidad, los tratamientos deben ser seleccionados para cada caso específico, dependiendo de la anatomía de las arterias y de la presentación de las complicaciones 1,2,5,6 .
