Semirreboques. Propriedades mecânicas. AbstractThe search for lightweight materials for automotive applications is increasing and composites are an option for cargo vehicles. The reduction of mass and durability are important factors, when competitiveness is evaluated. Currently, the body of the bulk semi-trailer is made of steel and coated with wood. The replacing of the wood by a composite material can help in increasing the net load and also the service life of the semi-trailer. However, developing a fiber-reinforced polymer composite with wood-like characteristics is not an easy task. In this logic, this article aims to make a bibliographical review, evaluating the factors that interfere in the mechanical behavior of these fibers reinforced by polymer composites. Through the analysis of the manuscripts, it was possible to determine that the volumetric fraction, orientations and physical characteristics of the fibers, as well as interfacial adhesion, are factors that influence significantly the mechanical behavior of the composites.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
