This research was conducted to examine the effects of dietary cold-pressed seed oils on growth, coloration and blood parameters in goldfish. A total of one-month-old 240 goldfish were used as the study material. The standard feed enriched with 5 different cold-pressed seed oils (fig, apricot, pomegranate, grape and plum) at a rate of 5% was given to the trial groups, while the control group was fed with the standard feed throughout the experiment. Groups were compared in terms of live weight, total length, specific growth rate (SGR), feed conversion rate (FCR), glucose, cholesterol and triglyceride values. Results showed that dietary seed oils improved the growth performance, feed utilization, coloration and decreased the blood glucose, cholesterol, and triglyceride levels. Seed oil-fed groups gained more weight compared to the control group (P
The sounds produced by living things in the aquatic environment have a long frequency range (from 0.1 Hz to 200 kHz). They are produced by the mechanical hitting of teeth and plates, the movement of the body in the water, and the distribution of fluids or gases in the body through sound generating organs (Anonymous, 2021). The creatures living in the aquatic environment use sound to communicate due to courtship, habitat determination, feeding, hunting, and behavioral reproductive functions (de Vincenzi et al., 2021;Coquereau et al., 2016). On the other hand, underwater noise pollution adversely affects the balance of marine living organisms (Bittencourt et al., 2014) which is not visible. The behavioral characteristics of creatures living in marine or freshwater ecosystems for basic life activities such as foraging, communication, and mating behavior are extremely sensitive to the effects of environmental noise. Therefore, scientific studies play important roles to understand the direction it affects aquatic organisms (Vakili et al., 2020).Within the branchiopods, Daphnia belongs to Cladocera whose body is surrounded by a
Öz: Bu araştırmada, Poecilia reticulata erkek lepistes balıklarında 140 lt cam akvaryumlarda farklı şiddette oluşturulan yüzey akıntısının canlı ağırlık, toplam boy ile kuyruk en ve boy uzunluklarına olan etkileri araştırılmıştır. Araştırma, her birinde 60 balık bulunan 3 ayrı grup üzerinde yürütülmüş olup, gruplar yüzey akıntısı içermeyen bir kontrol grubu akvaryumu ile 550 l sa-1 ve 880 l sa-1 debiye sahip motor içeren iki deneme grubundan oluşmuştur. Balıklarda alınan vücut ölçülerine ilaveten kullanılan suya ait ölçümler de kaydedilmiştir. Araştırmada elde edilen bulgular, akvaryum ortamında oluşturulan su akıntısının, erkek lepistes balıklarında canlı ağırlık, toplam boy ve kuyruk uzunluklarında belirgin şekilde artışa yol açtığını göstermiş ve böylece dişi ve erkek balıkların eş zamanlı olarak büyütülerek, piyasaya sunulabilmesine olanak sağladığını ortaya koymuştur.
Ornamental fish farming has become an important industry in the world. Ornamental fish are called living gems because of their color, shape and behavior. Modern ornamental fish production requires a nutritionally balanced, cost-effective and sustainable feeding process. Among the operating costs in aquaculture, the cost of feed has a ratio varying between 40% and 60% among the total other expenses. In this study, it was aimed to investigate the effects of meal number on growth performance and survival rate in Electric yellow cichlid fries (Labidochromis caeruleus). 60 Electric yellow cichlid fries were stocked in 12 aquariums of 33 * 35 * 40 cm size established in
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
