The foundation is the commodity communities that are formed by the real or legal persons' specific goods and rights, with a specific and continuous purpose, and that have legal personality. Foundations are generally established for social solidarity purpose. Foundations also have the purpose of supporting those who are financially weak and improving their social and economic situation. It is necessary to reveal the social policy functions and economic functions of the foundations that fulfill these goals. Social security and social assistance, gaining social responsibility, preventing social conflict and ensuring social integration are the foundations that are meant for social policy purposes. Economic functions are the effects of foundations on the economic structure, their contribution to employment and their effects on consumption, savings and investment. The fact that the foundations fulfill these functions will reveal the importance of the assets of the foundations operating within the framework of the establishment's objectives. The number of foundations established under the Turkish Civil Code and called "new foundations" is over 5000 today. These foundations can be established with an official promissory note (foundation certificate) or a death-related saving (will). The management of the new foundations is carried out by the managers determined by the foundation deed, and the audit is performed by the internal auditors and the inspectors of the General Directorate of Foundations. New foundations are established to operate within the framework of the above-mentioned purposes. More broadly, foundations founded for education, social aid, health, social work, sociocultural, history, art, environment and development are established to meet the needs of people who need economic and social support. In case the needs of these people who need support are met, contribution will be made to the development of social integration on the one hand while contributing to economic development.In this study, whether or not the new foundations established according to the Turkish Civil Code fulfill their basic functions were investigated through a survey study with the managers and employees of the new foundations. In this context, firstly, the concept of foundation was mentioned, and then social policy and economic functions of foundations were investigated. The study focused on social security and social assistance, gaining social responsibility, preventing social conflict and ensuring social integration under the name of social policy functions.
