A síndrome de Burnout, ou esgotamento profissional decorre de estresse prolongado no trabalho e isso faz parte da realidade de muitos profissionais da área de contábeis. Como problema da pesquisa tem-se: de que forma a síndrome de Burnout afeta o profissional de contabilidade? Por ser uma síndrome que se desenvolve de maneira diferente, dependendo muito do ambiente de trabalho, do clima organizacional, bem como das realizações pessoais e projetos que o indivíduo busca, assim como nas suas atividades como profissionais. A presente pesquisa visa beneficiar os indivíduos que não conhecem a síndrome, os que conhecem, mas não levam em consideração os sintomas, que não procuram ajuda, bem como conscientizar e proporcionar uma clareza maior sobre o referido tema. Como autores pesquisados teve-se ALVES, 2011. CAMPOS, 2008. COSTA, 2012. GONÇALES, 2017, 2006. A pesquisa é de natureza explicativa, utilizando o método indutivo e de caráter quantitativa, tendo como universo da pesquisa os profissionais de contabilidade, delimita-se como amostra as atividades dos profissionais de contabilidade. Por meio da pesquisa realizada, pode-se perceber que os profissionais não tem o devido conhecimento sobre essa doença devido os sintomas serem parecido com o de outras doenças como depressão e estresse. Cabe destacar que com os dados obtidos na pesquisa constatou-se que os profissionais da contabilidade estão satisfeitos com as atividades que exercem, mais que o fato de trazerem para si o problema dos outros ou a afinidade em transformar as pessoas parte de sua família pode a vir a desencadear a síndrome. Na identificação das características e sintomas que demonstram exaustão eles não são suficientes para diagnosticar uma síndrome desta natureza.
