The study was conducted to investigate the effect of conservative surgery of ovarian endometriomas before an ICSI cycle. Ninety-nine patients with endometriomas who were referred to an intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) cycle were enrolled in the study. The patients were prospectively randomized into two groups; group I (49 patients) underwent conservative ovarian surgery before the ICSI cycle and group II (50 patients) underwent the ICSI cycle directly. The stimulation was started 3 months after the operation in group I and directly in group II. In the ovarian surgery group, stimulation was significantly longer (14.0 days in group I and 10.8 days in group II; P = 0.001), total recombinant FSH dose was significantly higher (4575 IU in group I and 3675 IU in group II; P = 0.001), and mean number of mature oocytes was significantly lower (7.8 in group I and 8.6 in group II; P = 0.032). There was no difference in terms of fertilization (86% in group I and 88% in group II), implantation (16.5% in group I and 18.5% in group II) and pregnancy rates (34% in group I and 38% in group II). Ovarian surgery resulted in longer stimulation, higher FSH requirement and lower oocyte number, but fertilization, pregnancy and implantation rates did not differ between the groups.
The random urine protein-creatinine ratio was a poor predictor for significant proteinuria in patients with new-onset mild hypertension in late pregnancy.
Tumor size, LVSI and vaginal involvement were independent prognostic factors in lymph node negative FIGO stage IB cervical cancer. Adjuvant radiotherapy in stage IB cervical cancer patients with negative nodes provides no survival advantage or better local tumoral control.
Atypical squamous cell (ASC) is the most common diagnosis in abnormal cervical cytology. As it is indefinite, ASC is used as a quality assurance parameter and the aim is to decrease its use. As the ratio of epithelial cell abnormality is variable in different populations, the ASC/SIL is a more definite variable to be used for quality assurance. The efficiency in clinical use of the cervical cytology screening test is determined by biopsy verification. Our epithelial cell abnormality, ASC/SIL ratio and cytology-histology correlation values were parallel to the literature, proving that the methods are used reliably at our institution.
Introduction: Mammary glands located in the vulvar region have been named as ectopic breast tissue or anogenital mammary glands by different authors. Literature on pathologies of ectopic breast tissue located in the vulvar region is rare. Most of the reports are about the malignancies arising from this ectopic tissue. Case Report: We report a case of fibrocystic disease of the mammary glands in the vulva in a 25-year-old pregnant woman. Her disease was exaggerated during pregnancy. Conclusion: Ectopic breast tissue in the vulva is a rare entity and fibrocystic disease of this tissue has rarely been reported in the English literature.
Prognosis of FIGO stage IB cervical cancer patients who were treated by primarily radical surgery was found to be same for those with adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
