In recent decades, the development of business incubators has had different experiences in Brazil. This diversity of experience promotes the need to research the specifics of each type of incubator, in order to understand the development of each one of them. This is the case of the Technology Based Incubator of Itajubá-INCIT that was created in Itajubá county in 2000 and it currently has 22 incubator companies. Thus, this article aims to analyze the formation and development of institutional capital in INCIT. For the realization of this article, it was used an exploratory study based on the case study method along with the implementation of a structured and not disguised form. The survey results revealed that although the INCIT is present for more than a decade in the city of Itajubá, the links between the partners are not yet adequately consolidated, suffering variations in the intensity of its institutional relations. This certainly weakens the institutional capital and undermines development and longevity of the incubator.
