Este trabalho representa uma tentativa de zonamento do potencial de liquefacção do território português. Basicamente, o estudo consiste na identificação e delimitação das áreas que, além de possuírem as condições geológicas necessárias para o desenvolvimento do fenómeno de liquefacção, estão expostas a níveis de sismicidade suficientemente fortes para o desencadearem.
Por se verificar a necessidade de um estudo a diferentes escalas, mediante o pormenor exigido e/ou viável, efectuou-se a abordagem do fenómeno e do zonamento, propriamente dito, a três níveis: o nível de zonamento territorial (nível 1), o nível de zonamento regional (nível 2) e o nível de zonamento local (nível 3). Nos níveis I e 2, o zonamento foi obtido a partir da sobreposição de dois mapas de base: o mapa da susceptibilidade à liquefacção e o mapa da oportunidade de liquefacção.
Este trabalho resulta de um estudo de simulação laboratorial do processo de descontaminação por ventilação de solos diversos, reconstituídos dentro de reactores projectados e construídos para os propósitos pretendidos, depois de dopados com BTEX – Benzeno, Tolueno, Etilbenzeno e Xilenos. Os provetes dos solos foram reconstituídos com características diferentes, dois provetes por cada tipo de solo. Através dessa modelação em laboratório, estudaram-se as interacções entre contaminantes na fase gasosa e as fracções sólida e aquosa dos diversos solos. Determinaram-se, ainda, as condições dos solos que poderão permitir maior ou menor reversibi - li dade dos processos intervenientes. Os resultados obtidos permitiram concluir que a influência da natureza e das con dições geotécnicas dos solos não foram tão nítidas como se previa, evidenciando-se o papel do teor em água, que foi mantido durante os ensaios, por saturação do fluxo de ar percolante.
