Introdução: O bruxismo infantil consiste no ato da criança ranger e apertar os dentes, tendo o envolvimento de movimentos parafuncionais da boca e mandíbula. Objetivo: Identificar e avaliar as evidências científicas acerca dos fatores associados a ocorrência de bruxismo em crianças. Metodologia: Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa, a pesquisa foi realizada no mês de abril de 2022, através da consulta direta de artigos no endereço eletrônico da Bireme – via BVS, nas seguintes bases de dados: SCIELO, PUBMED, LILACS, MEDLINE, BBO. Usando os descritores Bruxismo, Diagnóstico, Odontopediatria. Inclusão de estudos disponíveis na íntegra, publicados nos últimos 10 anos, relevantes, gratuitos, no idioma português, inglês e espanhol. Exclusão de textos indisponíveis na íntegra, com ambivalência e sem relevância. Resultados e Discussão: Foram selecionados 18 artigos. A literatura aponta que os efeitos do bruxismo nos dentes dependem de diversos fatores, como o tipo e gravidade da parafunção, número e localização dos dentes, posicionamento dentário na arcada, relações intermaxilares, altura das cúspides, mobilidade e contato interdentário. Na infância, esse hábito parafuncional é considerado mais severo em crianças com idade pré-escolar, devido as características estruturais e funcionais dos dentes decíduos, embora também apareça em crianças maiores e na dentição permanente. Conclusão: O conhecimento dos fatores etiológicos e das características clínicas do bruxismo na infância são fundamentais para que o diagnóstico seja precoce, possibilitando que odontopediatras, pediatras e psicólogos possam estabelecer um tratamento com abordagem multidisciplinar e favoreçam o desenvolvimento integral da criança para a promoção de saúde e bem-estar individual.
Estudos com as células-tronco são de grande interesse para a ciência, definidas como um grupo especial de células que apresentam características especificas e bastante estudadas devido sua capacidade de regeneração dos tecidos. A pesquisa busca verificar a partir de literatura atualizada as evidências científicas acerca da perspectiva da aplicação de células-tronco na odontologia e sua relevância na comunidade científica. Trata-se uma pesquisa de revisão integrativa da literatura com busca nas bases de dados BVS, LILACS, MEDLINE, SCIELO, BBO, PUBMED utilizados os descritores: Células-tronco, Regeneração Tecidual, Pesquisa em Odontologia. Como critérios de inclusão publicações da última década com artigos na íntegra, gratuitos, relevantes e disponível no idioma português, inglês, espanhol. Foram excluídos da amostragem os artigos indisponíveis na íntegra, que apresentarem ambivalência e sem relevância. Nos resultados, 13 estudos evidenciaram a relevância das células-tronco, sendo imprescindível na terapia da reconstrução tecidual. As várias fontes dessas células, inserem a área odontológica em um cenário de grandes avanços científicos, que serão mais palpáveis com o aumento dos estudos na esfera da bioengenharia tecidual, a fim de promover a regeneração do tecido dental, em específico na endodontia, periodontia, cirurgia e traumatologia bucomaxilofacial. Entretanto, a regeneração destes tecidos não é tão simples, já que o seu desenvolvimento é determinado através de interações complexas envolvendo inúmeros fatores de crescimento, além da diferenciação celular que está ligada às mudanças morfológicas no decorrer da formação do germe dentário. Os dentes são apontados como excelentes fontes de células-tronco e de suma importância, pois têm proporcionado grandes experimentos por seu fácil acesso, acreditando-se que futuramente o uso destas células represente um grande avanço nos tratamentos odontológicos.
Introdução: O ameloblastoma é um tumor benigno de crescimento lento e invasivo, geralmente assintomático, sendo descoberto na maioria das vezes, através de exames radiográficos. Objetivo: verificar as evidências científicas acerca da análise clínica e terapêutica do tumor odontogênico ameloblastoma. Metodologia: Trata-se de uma revisão sistemática com abordagem qualitativa, realizada em setembro de 2020 com busca nas bases de dados: BVS, SCIELO, LILACS e MEDLINE, usando a estratégia PICO. Descritores selecionados: Ameloblastoma, Neoplasias Mandibulares, Tumores Odontogênicos, associados ao operador booleano And. Inclusão de estudos entre 2010 a 2022 com textos na íntegra, relevantes e disponível em português, inglês ou espanhol. Exclusão de textos incompletos, repetidos e sem relevância para temática. Resultados e discussão: Foram selecionados 24 estudos para construção da pesquisa. Os tipos de ameloblastomas são: unicístico, multicístico, periférico e o menos frequente ameloblastoma maligno. Os sintomas de apresentação incluem massa submucosa de crescimento lento, dentes com mobilidade, má oclusão, parestesia, dor e aproximadamente 35% dos pacientes podem ser assintomáticos. O diagnóstico é feito através da biópsia das células tumorais. Entretanto, o cirurgião-dentista ao suspeitar de ameloblastoma, após exames de imagem é indicado o encaminhamento para um especialista da área. Quanto ao tratamento, alguns autores indicam intervenção cirúrgica conservadora, e menos agressiva, como curetagem, enucleação, outros indicam uma cirurgia mais radical. Conclusão: O ameloblastoma é um tumor benigno, porém agressivo, de origem odontogênica, seu tratamento pode ser conservador ou radical, isso irá depender da extensão da lesão bem como da experiência do cirurgião-dentista para escolher o melhor tratamento para o paciente.
Introdução: Alguns estudos se propuseram a avaliar a relação entre ansiedade materna e o comportamento do paciente infantil no consultório odontológico. Entretanto, não há consenso seansiedade dos pais se relaciona ao comportamento da criança no atendimento odontológico. Objetivo: Resumir sistematicamente as evidências disponíveis sobre a relação entre ansiedade dos pais e comportamento dos filhos no tratamento odontológico. Materiais e Métodos: Foi realizada uma pesquisa na base de dados Pubmed/Medline para busca de artigos publicados de 1969 até maio de 2023. Para isso, foram utilizados descritores relacionados ao tema. Estudos clínicos foram selecionados, tabulados e analisados descritivamente. Resultados e discussão: De 477 estudos potencialmente elegíveis identificados, 5 artigos foram incluídos. Cada um desses estudos foi realizado em países diferentes: Bulgária, Arábia Saudita, Índia, Grécia e Brasil.A escala Corah Dental AnxietyScale foi a mais utilizada nos estudos para avaliação da ansiedade dos pais frente ao atendimento odontológico. Do mesmo modo, a escala de medo infantil Children´s Fear Survey Schedule foi a mais empregada para medir o medo das crianças no consultório. Observou-se que 3 estudos evidenciaram relação direta entre a ansiedade dentária nos pais e o comportamento das crianças no tratamento odontológico. Os outros dois estudos mostraram resultados de não associação. Contudo, as metodologias dos estudos diferem entre si, o que dificulta uma análise única dos resultados encontrados por cada estudo. Conclusão: Concluiu-se que, embora alguns artigos relatem que a ansiedade dos pais influencia o comportamento dos filhos durante o atendimento odontológico, ainda não há evidências suficientes para confirmar essa correlação.
