A acne caracteriza-se por um processo inflamatório causado pela infestação bacteriana. A etiologia é decorrente de determinados fatores dentre os quais está à alteração da microbiota que é causada pela bactéria Propionibacterium acnes. Este trabalho tem por objetivo avaliar a Concentração Inibitória Mínima (CIM) e a Concentração Bactericida Mínima (CBM) do ácido glicólico e do ácido mandélico. Para tal, foi utilizado o método de microdiluição, com o qual após o período de 48 horas foi obtido o resultado da CIM para os dois ácidos. Dos poços que tiveram inibição foi retirada uma alíquota que foi transferida para placas de ágar Muller-Hinton para gerar o resultado da CBM desses mesmos ácidos. A CIM do ácido glicólico foi de 1,27 mg/ml e a do ácido mandélico foi de 2,5 mg/ml, enquanto que a CBM desses ácidos apresentaram os mesmos valores, respectivamente. Conclui-se que o ácido glicólico e mandélico possuem atividade bactericida e bacteriostática nas condições deste experimento.
