El presente es un estudio expos facto con un diseño retrospectivo y transeccional, que consideró una muestra probabilística de 1,143 personas (538 hombres y 605 mujeres) con un rango de edad entre 17 y 56 años o más. Los instrumentos de medida fueron la Escala de estrés y ansiedad delincuencial, y el Cuestionario de salud general. Los resultados revelaron que aproximadamente las tres cuartas partes de la muestra consideró que el contexto de violencia delincuencial afectó su salud mental. Existen diferencias entre hombres y mujeres. Las mujeres y los residentes urbanos presentaron mayor número de síntomas de estrés y ansiedad delincuencial. Se sugieren recomendaciones para estudios futuros.
El presente artículo es un extracto de un estudio más amplio de tipo ex post facto que tiene el objetivo de analizar las dimensiones psicosociales (personalidad) de violencia asociadas con el comportamiento agresivo juvenil en El Salvador. Para ello, se utilizó un diseño retrospectivo y transaccional, en una muestra probabilística de 3.349 jóvenes (1.708 mujeres y 1.640 hombres), con una media de edad total de 16.47 años (DT = 1.38). Los instrumentos de medición utilizados fueron los siguientes: Escala de historia de violencia juvenil, Escala social y contextual de violencia juvenil, Escala de factores individuales de violencia juvenil, Escala de factores de protección de violencia juvenil y Cuestionario de agresión general. Los resultados revelan que los jóvenes con mayor riesgo de incurrir en conductas violentas son del sexo masculino, los residentes urbanos y los de centros educativos privados. Tanto las dimensiones individuales de personalidad como los factores sociales están relacionados de forma significativa con la conducta violenta de los jóvenes salvadoreños.Entorno, octubre 2016, número 62: 7-18
