International Journal of Case Reports and Images (IJCRI) is an international, peer reviewed, monthly, open access, online journal, publishing high-quality, articles in all areas of basic medical sciences and clinical specialties.Aim of IJCRI is to encourage the publication of new information by providing a platform for reporting of unique, unusual and rare cases which enhance understanding of disease process, its diagnosis, management and clinico-pathologic correlations. The presence of the erythrocyte pairs abated with the patient's recovery from chronic fatigue syndrome over a 24-month period. This erythrocyte arrangement has not been reported elsewhere in medical literature. Conclusion: A novel erythrocyte "flower" formation was identified in a patient with chronic fatigue syndrome. The presence of this arrangement paralleled the course of the illness and was no longer observed upon recovery. The physiological relevance of the structure remains a subject for future research. Several hypotheses are suggested, including enhanced membrane deformability resulting from elevated catecholamine levels, and immune-mediated agglutination, possibly stemming from viral infection. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
