O estudo foi realizado no Parque Municipal do Iguaçu (PMI), local que também abriga o zoológico de Curitiba, Paraná/Brasil. A flora aquática do local é bastante significativa, no entanto, nunca foi alvo de estudos. Foi realizado um levantamento florístico das espécies aquáticas presentes em duas lagoas que circundam o PMI. As coletas foram realizadas entre os meses de Abril e Outubro de 2016. Foram registradas 33 espécies, distribuídas em 24 gêneros e 15 famílias. A maior parte das espécies são emergentes e pertencem as famílias Araceae, Cyperaceae, Poaceae e Pontederiaceae. As espécies predominantes foram: Eichhornia crassipes, Pistia stratioides e Typha dominguensis. A ocorrência descontrolada destas espécies indica um ambiente aquático altamente eutrofizado e impróprio para consumo humano.
