Este artigo propõe compreender as representações da mulher no cinema brasileiro contemporâneo. Busca entender o papel feminino nas tramas cinematográficas, levando em consideração o cinema como reflexo de uma realidade social. Traz autores como Rossini, para tratar do cinema brasileiro hegemônico; Mulvey, com seus estudos sobre as representações femininas na sétima arte e Berardo Bueno, trabalhando os conceitos de arquétipo e estereótipo no cinema. Analisa o filme do gênero comédia Loucas pra Casar a partir de suas personagens femininas, cujas inserções na trama reiteram um papel conferido à mulher na sociedade e no imaginário coletivo. Conclui que, neste caso empírico, é perceptível como o cinema brasileiro reproduz construtos sociais sobre o ser mulher, reafirmando, assim, arquétipos e estereótipos construídos por um discurso patriarcal.
