A vector field A , is coupled to the Einstein equations with a linearly perturbed FriedmannRobertson-Walker metric, constructed to generate first-order vector perturbations. A working classical chaotic vector inflation is demonstrated and then quantum fluctuations of the field are used to constrain the cosmological perturbations. In particular, the vector momentum flux To, is tracked to the epoch where radiation-dominated matter exists. Matching conditions using observational constraints of the cosmic microwave background radiation give rise to a peculiar cosmological velocity of the order of 10-'OOc. Amplification of this number, e.g., by breaking the conformal invariance of the field, could be used to generate cosmic magnetic fields using a dynamo mechanism.
Non-Newtonian corrections to an imperfect cosmological fluid result in a density contrast growing as a conformal time to the tenth power during a first order cosmological phase transition. Further questions of dissipative processes in non-equilibrium cosmology are discussed.
Scleredema is a rare and incompletely understood disorder characterized by progressive skin thickening and induration typically affecting the trunk, neck, and proximal upper extremities. Hand and finger involvement is exceptionally rare, having been reported in only two infection-related cases. We present an atypical case of postinfectious scleredema involving the hands and discuss scleredema as an important potential cause of hand tightness and induration in adolescents.
