Objetivo: Relatar o treinamento da equipe de enfermagem e as estratégias implantadas para o enfrentamento da pandemia COVID-19. Método: Trata-se de um estudo descritivo, do tipo relato de experiência realizado em um hospital localizado na cidade de São Paulo, Brasil. Resultados: No período de janeiro de 2020 a dezembro de 2021, foram treinados aproximadamente 1.400 profissionais de enfermagem novos ou promovidos, 3.660 foram capacitados para serem transferidos de áreas, em alinhamentos que abrangiam desde aquisição de novos conhecimentos e habilidades específicas, até manuseio de equipamentos e atualização de processos, 27 aulas de especialistas multiprofissionais foram transformadas em aulas de Ensino a Distância. Considerações Finais: O enfrentamento da crise exigiu ajustes que possibilitaram: capacitação e atualização expressiva de profissionais de enfermagem; impulso à evolução digital; interação entre áreas favorecendo o conhecimento de novos escopos de trabalho, resultando em maior segurança na assistência e melhores desfechos. Abstract Objective: To report the training of the nursing team and the strategies implemented to face the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: This is a descriptive study of the experience report type in a large private and philanthropic hospital in assistance, teaching and research located in the city of São Paulo. Results: In the period from January 2020 to December 2021, approximately 1,400 new or promoted nursing professionals were trained, 3,660 were trained to be transferred from areas, in alignments that ranged from acquiring new knowledge and specific skills, to handling equipment and updating processes, 27 classes by multi-professional specialists were transformed into Distance Learning Classes. Final Considerations: Coping with the crisis required adjustments that allowed: training and expressive updating of nursing professionals; boost to digital evolution; interaction between areas favoring the knowledge of new scopes of work, resulting in greater safety in care and better outcomes.
