Em 2018, quando abrimos chamada para a edição “Internet e mídias digitais: reflexões sobre o presente, futuro e práticas” da Revista Ícone, um fenômeno bastante interessante chamou nossa atenção: para além de uma noção mais ampla de comunicação, recebemos numerosos textos que tratavam especificamente sobre jornalismo, conforme a definição clássica de campo jornalístico de Bourdieu, por assim dizer. Isso nos levou a separar alguns desses textos e fazer uma curadoria específica, trazendo-nos ao material que agora está sendo publicado, intitulado “Novos Jornalismos”. O título para esta edição da Ícone nasceu de uma reflexão oferecida pelos próprios textos. Que jornalismo é esse que se descortina a partir do digital? A partir de uma nova relação com o público? Com o fazer da notícia? E, algo que vem sendo amplamente discutido, mas que não chegamos a tratar nesta edição, a partir da relação com a verdade, ou de uma pós-verdade, como se convencionou chamar? Ora, pudemos perceber que não se trata de um jornalismo, mas de Novos Jornalismos, daí o título desta edição. Certamente, muito ainda será discutido sobre esses Novos Jornalismos ao longo dos próximos anos. Efetivamente há os que decretam o fim do jornalismo e há os que celebram o seu renascimento em face das possibilidades apresentadas pelas mídias digitais. Neste sentido nos propomos aqui a lançar um olhar cuidadoso sobre o tema e sugerir que outros pesquisadores e profissionais façam o mesmo para saber o que esperar desses Novos – ou já nem tão novos assim, já que a revolução digital tem mais de duas décadas – Jornalismos. É com grande alegria que retomamos as atividades da revista Ícone com o dossiê especial “Internet e mídias digitais: reflexões sobre o presente, futuro e práticas”. Num momento de incertezas, não apenas para o campo da comunicação, mas para o próprio fazer científico no Brasil, pensar sobre o correr do tempo e sobre o futuro são tarefas fundamentais.
