Este trabajo aborda la caracterización de los perfiles que están a cargo de la formación de la primera infancia y su relación en los procesos de cualificación. Se pretende contribuir al conocimiento de las condiciones de los agentes educativos (AE) que intervienen en la educación infantil y su proceso de cualificación en las estrategias formuladas desde un contexto educativo inclusivo en la formación inicial de las nuevas generaciones de AE. MÉTODO. La investigación se aborda desde una metodología mixta. Se contó con la participación de 1592 AE. Se identificaron los perfiles que intervienen directa e indirectamente con la primera infancia (PI), así como la relación que existe en los procesos de cualificación utilizando un modelo Logit multivariado. RESULTADOS. Los principales resultados indican que tienen mayor probabilidad de cualificación en PI los AE menores de 27 años que trabajen directamente con niños y niñas de PI y con experiencia igual o mayor a tres años en el área de educación infantil. Sin embargo, se presenta baja participación en los procesos de formación virtual. Lo que resalta un escenario poco aprovechado por los AE con las herramientas tecnológicas TIC. DISCUSIÓN. Desde el contexto colombiano se hace necesario identificar las concepciones, prácticas y construcciones que se establecen en la cotidianidad de los AE desde un papel regulador, orientador y promotor del adecuado desarrollo infantil, teniendo en cuenta el papel de los niños y niñas como sujetos de derecho.
