En este artículo se discute cómo y quién(es) se encargan de ejercer la gobernanza de la adaptación al cambio climático en las pequeñas fincas agrícolas desde una perspectiva de género. Los resultados que se presentan forman parte de una investigación cualitativa que se llevó a cabo en el año 2018. Se realizaron entrevistas a profundidad con hombres y mujeres de tres localidades rurales de Costa Rica. En los resultados, se discute cómo la propiedad de la tierra, el género y la edad se entrelazan en contextos específicos, influyendo en la capacidad de adaptación de las mujeres administradoras y los hombres administradores y, por ende, en el ejercicio de la gobernanza asociada a la adaptación. Además, se analiza cómo las adaptaciones que se han implementado en las fincas varían según el género de la persona administradora.
El presente artículo expone los resultados del diagnóstico comunitario que se realizó en el marco del proyecto de la Universidad de Costa Rica, titulado "Desarrollo de capacidades en la comunidad de Santa María de Dota para la prevención del suicidio"; el cual tenía como objetivo contribuir a la comprensión de este fenómeno en dicha comunidad a partir de la identificación de aquellos factores que inciden sobre la conducta suicida. Se utilizó una metodología cualitativa y participativa con técnicas como entrevistas, grupos de discusión y talleres. En los resultados se exponen los principales problemas de la comunidad y los aspectos positivos considerados respectivamente como factores de riesgo y factores protectores para el suicidio, así como la percepción que se tiene de este y las herramientas comunitarias para enfrentarlo.Palabras clave: Suicidio; enfoque psicosocial; salud comunitaria; factores de riesgo; factores protectores. AbstractThe present article at hand presents the results of the community assessment that was carried out as part of the project "Capacity building in the community of Santa Maria de Dota for suicide prevention" from the University of Costa Rica. The former aimed to better understand suicide in this community by identifying those factors that influence suicidal behavior. A qualitative and participatory approach, with techniques such as interviews, focus groups, and workshops, was used. The results expose the main problems of the community considered as risk factors for suicide, the positive qualities that are considered as protective factors, and the perception people have of suicide as well as the strategies the community has to face this problem.
El artículo analiza los retos y las lecciones aprendidas de un proyecto que realizó un diagnóstico comunitario sobre el suicidio en una comunidad rural en San José, Costa Rica. En un primer momento se presenta una reflexión teórica desde el abordaje psicosocial del suicidio y posteriormente los cinco momentos que se siguieron en el proceso (planificación, revisión de información, trabajo de campo, redacción del informe, presentación de resultados y devolución). Se concluye con reflexiones sobre los retos y las lecciones aprendidas, indicando que el diagnóstico permite conocer la problemática, proponer estrategias de trabajo y facilitar el acercamiento a la comunidad.
El acceso a espacios verdes en escuelas públicas y privadas en Curridabat, Costa RicaThe access to green spaces in public and private schools in Curridabat, Costa Rica Carolina Castillo Echeverría Costa Rica. ResumenEn el presente artículo se presentan los resultados de un estudio que buscaba comparar escuelas públicas y privadas del cantón de Curridabat para determinar si niños y niñas tienen acceso equitativo a espacios externos y áreas verdes en las instalaciones de ambos tipos de escuela, así como las repercusiones que tiene sobre estos el tener acceso a áreas verdes en las instituciones educativas. El estudio se llevó a cabo en dos escuelas privadas y dos públicas del cantón de Curridabat, el cual forma parte de la provincia de San José, Costa Rica. Se utilizó una metodología cualitativa basada en observaciones, dibujos de mapas y entrevistas semi-estructuradas con niños entre los siete y doce años, así como entrevistas con docentes.Los resultados comparan las áreas externas y espacios verdes que tienen las dos escuelas Carolina Castillo Echeverría 158 privadas con las dos escuelas públicas y se visibiliza la importancia que tiene para los niños y niñas el tener acceso a áreas verdes en sus escuelas.Palabras clave: acceso a espacios verdes; Costa Rica; escuelas públicas y privadas; niños. AbstractThis article exposes the results of a study that sought to compare public and private schools in the Curridabat canton to determine if children have equal access to green spaces in their campuses and the effect it has on them to access these green spaces in their school. The research was carried out in two private and two public schools of the Curridabat canton, located in the province of San José, Costa Rica. It used a qualitative methodology based on observations of the school´s campuses, mapping and semi-structured interviews with school personnel and children between 7 and 12 years old.
