Este artículo examina los discursos de la novela Retahílas, de Carmen Martín Gaite, con el objetivo de analizar los procesos de formación de identidad y alteridad entre los dos protagonistas y responde a la pregunta de investigación: ¿Cómo se describen, qué relación tienen y cuál es la finalidad de los discursos de identidad y alteridad en el texto? Para ello, se ha llevado a cabo un análisis de discurso en dos niveles semiótico-comunicativos basado en las teorías de Lotman y Bajtín. Los resultados muestran ciertos elementos semióticos, analizando la novela como un todo, que forman la identidad de los personajes. Los protagonistas de la novela, además, construyen su propia identidad a partir de las semejanzas y diferencias entre ellos y con otros personajes, expresadas en sus discursos a través de sus recuerdos o a consecuencia de la interacción presente. El análisis demuestra que la autora consigue reflejar a través de la novela las tensiones discursivas de identidad y alteridad que se dan en una relación real entre dos personas.
Objetivo principal. Este artículo examina los discursos de la narradora-protagonista que versan sobre la discriminación de la mujer en el contexto de la primera etapa de la dictadura franquista en la novela El cuarto de atrás de C. Martín Gaite y responde a la pregunta de investigación: ¿cuáles son las estrategias discursivas de la autora para representar esta discriminación en el texto? Metodología. Mediante un análisis de discurso con perspectiva crítica y feminista, hemos examinado los enunciados en dos niveles (macro-estrategias y micro-estrategias discursivas). Resultados. Hemos identificado una serie de estrategias discursivas que la autora emplea para mostrar la discriminación de la mujer en el texto como el uso de ciertos temas discursivos (comentarios directos e indirectos de la sociedad y las instituciones), de los subgéneros (la novela rosa, la autobiografía, el libro de memorias) o de los intertextos (el cine, la música). Discusión y conclusiones. El estudio pone de manifiesto la crítica de la autora de la represión y los modelos de género monológicos implantados por el Régimen mediante la reacción ante las estructuras de poder (la Sección Femenina). La narradora ofrece una historia alternativa a la oficial y es el altavoz de una generación de mujeres que tuvieron que evadirse mentalmente para resistir a la propaganda de la posguerra.
