Se aplicó el método de encuesta, un cuestionario cualitativo-cuantitativo con ítems medidos en escala Likert de cinco puntos para recoger información del empleo de prácticas socialmente responsables, a una muestra de 192 empresas localizadas en las ciudades de Quito y Guayaquil, Ecuador. Se determinó la existencia de correlación de las variables de RSE con los índices financieros. Además se observó que las empresas ecuatorianas muestran un nivel medio de implementación del concepto de RSE. Esta correlación no muestra dependencias estadísticamente significativas entre el índice de RSE y el desempeño financiero. De acuerdo a los resultados de este estudio, sí existe una relación significativa entre el pilar de responsabilidad social y el rendimiento sobre las ventas o activos (ROS), y entre los pilares de responsabilidad económica y ambiental con respecto al retorno sobre el patrimonio (ROE). Palabras clave: responsabilidad social de la empresa; ética de negocios; industria del plástico; desempeño financiero Enterprise Social Responsibility and Financial Performance in the Plastic Industry of Ecuador AbstractThis work analyzes the relationship among practices of corporative social responsibility CSR, and the financial performance of Ecuadorian companies belonging to the industrial plastic sector. The survey method was applied, a qualitative-quantitative questionnaire with items measured in a Likert scale of five points to pick up information on the use of socially responsible practices, to a sample of 192 companies located in the cities of Quito and Guayaquil, Ecuador. The existence of a correlation of the variables of CSR was determined with the financial indexes. It was also observed that Ecuadorian companies show an intermediate level of implementation of the concept of CSR. This correlation does not show statistically significant dependencies between the CSR index and the financial efficiency. According to the results of this study, a significant relationship does exist between the pillars of social responsibility and return of assets (ROS), and among the pillars of economic and environmental responsibility with regard to the return on equity (ROE).

En el estudio se consideran algunas características socio-demográficas de los encuestados tales como estado civil, edad, ingreso mensual, ciudad de origen y el hecho de viajar solo o acompañado. Se aplicó una encuesta a una muestra final de 556 turistas en dos instancias de feriados locales. Se utilizó un análisis de regresión logística binaria como herramienta para determinar la probabilidad de repetir la visita turística. Los principales resultados del modelo evidenciaron que las variables socio-demográficas nivel de educación, ciudad de origen y viajar acompañado, así como atributos relacionados a la variedad de la oferta turística, precio, clima y los canales de distribución son estadísticamente significativos. En otras palabras, aquellos que respondieron positivamente a los cuatro atributos, tienen un alto grado de estudio, viven en zonas aledañas y viajan acompañados y tienen mayores probabilidades de repetir la visita al cantón Playas. The Case of Canton Playas, in Ecuador AbstractThis work studies the relationship between various attributes that may explain the perceived satisfaction of tourists and their influence on the intention of repeating the visit to the Cantón Playas, Ecuador. The study considers some socio-demographic characteristics of the respondents such as marital status, age, monthly income, city of origin and whether they travel alone or accompanied. A survey was applied to a final sample of 556 tourists in two periods of local holidays. A binary logistic regression analysis was used as a tool to determine the likelihood of repeating the visit. The main results of the model showed that the sociodemographic variables level of education, city of origin and accompanied traveling, as well as attributes related to the variety of the touristic offer, price, climate and distribution channels are statistically significant. In other words, those who responded positively to the four attributes have a high level of education, live in surrounding areas and travel accompanied, are more likely to repeat the visit to Playas.

Ondividuals not only have a set of personal resources to carry out their activities, they also have a perception with respect to the availability of these resources. As people age, personal food-related perceived resources (FPR) become increasingly important, and these influence their quality of life (QDL). Since men and women differ in aspects like education, consumption and pensions, this study seeks to identify the gender role in the relationship between FPR and QDL among Ecuadorian elderly. The sample included elderly people of both sexes in the city of Guayaquil, Ecuador, with the application of stratified random sampling. The instrument included: FPR scale, satisfaction with food-related life scale (SWFLS) and the satisfaction with life scale (SWLS). The results indicated that those men and women who have a better perceived satisfaction with their economic situation are in physically and mentally good health, assign greater importance to family, are more satisfied with their food-related life, and have a higher number of FPR and therefore a better QDL. A relevant conclusion is that SWFLS and FPR are predictors of QDL among Ecuadorian elderly and that gender helps to explain the sign and magnitude of the relationship between these variables.

El presente artículo pretende estudiar el impacto de la Sistematización e Informatización de procesos en la Productividad de Empresas de Servicios en consultoría en el mercado ecuatoriano, mediante el desarrollo de un modelo econométrico de regresión lineal multivariado que analiza la influencia de las tres variables exógenas Implementación de Tecnologías de Información (TI), Nivel de Capacitación y Estilo de aprendizaje, con relación a la variable endógena Productividad. La investigación es de tipo no experimental, de corte transversal y de lógica deductiva, y el estudio de campo se efectuó en 178 consultoras de las ciudades de Quito y Guayaquil, considerando que en estas ciudades se concentra la mayor actividad empresarial. Se escogieron los siguientes estratos para el procedimiento muestral: (a) Consultoras dedicadas a la Investigación Científica y Desarrollo, (b) Consultorías de Gestión Empresarial, y (c) Consultorías de Investigación de Mercado y Publicidad. El modelo econométrico presentó un R2 ajustado de 67,01%, indicando robustez en la investigación, y adicionalmente se determinó que las TICs tienen mayor incidencia en la productividad de las consultoras.
