Objective: A retrospective study was performed to establish the incidence of retinal detachment among 107 patients (165 eyes) with pathologic myopia who underwent clear-lens extraction.Interventions: The techniques employed were intracapsular extraction (3.0%), aspiration (59.4%), and extracapsular extraction (37.6%); average follow-up was 31 months.Results: Retinal detachment developed in 12 eyes (7.3%) an average (SD) of 30.7\m=+-\26.6months postoperatively;
In the past years, several lamellar keratoplasty surgical techniques have been developed, modified or improved in the past years, including microkeratome assisted anterior and posterior lamellar keratoplasty, anterior lamellar keratoplasty using air-dissection or visco-dissection, sutureless posterior lamellar keratoplasty, LASIK for postkeratoplasty astigmatism, and excimer laser assisted keratophakia for keratoconus or to manage complications after LASIK. These procedures may continue to gain interest as alternative procedures for a penetrating keratoplasty in the treatment of various corneal disorders.
Steepening the flatter meridian with the MultiScan System safely and effectively corrected hyperopic astigmatism. The rapid recovery of UCVA was due not only to correction of the ametropia, but also to the centering provided by the active tracking system.
