Este libro concentra la oferta educativa de las once carreras de licenciatura en Geografía que hay en México, impartidas en nueve universidades, ubicadas la mayor parte en las zonas centro, sur y sureste del territorio mexicano. En esta obra participan un total de 23 autores y coautores de capítulo, en su mayoría fundadores, directivos, coordinadores o ex coordinadores de carrera con una sólida formación geográfica en universidades del país y del extranjero, así como una amplia trayectoria que muchos de ellos atestiguan al ser miembros del Sistema Nacional de Investigadores del Conacyt. El trabajo se realiza por acuerdo de los participantes fruto de una reunión de trabajo en junio de 2021 y de la propuesta de un primer coloquio nacional sobre “Las carreras de Geografía en México” realizado ex profeso para exponer, debatir y ajustar los avances de los trabajos realizados hasta ese entonces y perfeccionarlos. Las contribuciones están organizadas de forma cronológica, y están antecedidas por un trabajo introductorio que da cuenta de la importancia de la obra, su estructura y organización. La obra se destaca por ser la primera de su tipo en el país y constituye un valioso aporte a nivel nacional e internacional, en virtud de que ofrece una radiografía clara de la oferta educativa geográfica de nivel superior en México, destacando el origen, evolución, orientación profesional, características y retos, así como la ubicación de cada programa y la universidad que lo imparte.
La crisis sanitaria del Coronavirus que hoy vivimos, está ocasionando grandes problemas en todos los ámbitos y en la educación básica está provocando serias dificultades por el cierre de escuelas y los conflictos que produce la enseñanza a distancia, la cual requiere equipo de cómputo y conectividad. Dada la situación económica de la mayoría de las familias mexicanas, no cuentan con estos equipos, aunado que culturalmente no está preparada para atender los estudios a través de la tecnología. El objetivo del trabajo es identificar espacialmente cuál es la infraestructura digital que apoya al Sistema Educativo Mexicano, para continuar con la impartición de clases a distancia. La metodología empleada está conformada por la combinación del método geográfico, etnográfico y fenomenológico, que ayude a identificar y ordenar la información recabada y ver qué relación guarda con la población que recibe educación en el nivel básico. Como resultados se obtuvieron cuadros y se presenta cartografía con información sobre marginación y la relación con la conectividad. De esta manera se pudieron identificar las consecuencias que ocasionó el cierre de escuelas y el establecimiento de la educación a distancia, que evidencia la existencia de una brecha digital y que esta pandemia se ha fortalecido de manera importante, haciendo más vulnerable a la población que menos recursos económicos tiene.
En el presente artículo inicialmente se problematizan los procesos de formación de la licenciatura en Geografía basados en prácticas de lectura, a partir del cuestionamiento de las prácticas pedagógicas derivadas del modelo transmisión recepción que limitan la participación de los estudiantes en sus propios procesos formativos, en tanto cierran oportunidades de que reflexionen, expresen críticas, asuman posturas activas tanto individual como colectivamente. Este proceso se configuró tomando como base los principios de la Pedagogía crítica (Freire, 1997, 2004, 2005 y Giroux, 2006) y la lectura crítica (Cassany, 2009, 20017), con sesiones planificadas de lectura de textos relacionados con los temas de la Unidad de Aprendizaje (UA) Ordenación del Territorio, que tuvieron como propósito aprender dialógicamente, con base en la discusión y el debate grupal. El trayecto metodológico tomó como base los principios de la investigación acción para construir conjuntamente con los estudiantes otras posibilidades para enseñar y aprender mediante la lectura, la participación y el diálogo. El diseño conjunto de nuevas formas de leer, tomar notas acerca de lo que leen y participar en clase tomó como base aportaciones de Paulo Freire (1997, 2005), Daniel Cassany (2004, 2009, 2017) y Paula Carlino (2005) en la que el trabajo con materiales escritos existentes en la producción académica de la disciplina o en elaboraciones de los estudiantes, constituye una posibilidad para que los alumnos aprendan a través de prácticas de lectura y escritura los contenidos propios del ámbito profesional. Los resultados aportan elementos para superar las visiones que consideran a los estudiantes como objetos de enseñanza y contribuir con aquellas que los reconocen como sujetos de aprendizaje.
