La carrera universitaria suele ser muy difusa cuando no hay un horizonte al cual deseas llegar o cuando no hay un motor de inspiración para avanzar. Viví de esta manera la mayor parte de mi carrera, hasta que tuve la suerte de conocer al profesor Gabriel Rodríguez y pude encaminarme hacia la ruta de la investigación. Estimado profesor, como siempre suelen iniciar mis correos, quisiera darle mis más profundos agradecimientos por guiarme, apoyarme y corregirme en mi formación como economista. Quiero darle las gracias por todas las amenas charlas que nada tenía que ver con la tesis, pero que eran necesarias para que yo no enloquezca. Asimismo, quería darle las gracias por todas las oportunidades que me ha brindado, las cuales me han permitido extraer lo mejor de mí. Este artículo analiza el efecto de los shocks en la oferta de préstamos sobre la actividad económica real de los países de la Alianza del Pacífico. El enfoque econométrico es un VAR de parámetro variable en el tiempo con volatilidad estocástica (TVP-VAR-SV), que se identifica mediante restricciones de signo. Los resultados de una prueba de trazas, pruebas t y la prueba de Kolmogorov-Smirnov revelan la existencia de cambios significativos en la distribución de parámetros a lo largo del tiempo, lo que respalda el uso de parámetros que varían en el tiempo. Los resultados indican que los choques en la oferta crediticia tienen un impacto importante en la actividad económica real en todos los países de la Alianza del Pacífico: alrededor del 1% en Colombia, México y Perú, y alrededor del 0,5% en Chile. Además, las perturbaciones de la oferta crediticia tienen un papel importante en el impulso de las fluctuaciones del ciclo económico, no solo en períodos de crisis, sino también en períodos de estabilidad. Su contribución al crecimiento del PIB es mayor que la de los choques de oferta agregada y tan alta como la de la demanda agregada y los choques de política monetaria. La evolución del impacto de los shocks en la oferta de préstamos sobre la actividad económica real muestra evidencia de heterogeneidad entre países, reflejando diferentes estructuras Önancieras entre los países de la Alianza del Pacífico. Además, al evaluar los efectos sobre diferentes medidas de la actividad económica, se estima que los shocks de oferta crediticia tienen un mayor impacto en la demanda interna, mientras que el impacto es similar cuando el modelo se estima para actividades no primarias. Finalmente, el análisis de sensibilidad indica que los resultados del modelo son robustos a diferentes especificaciones previas, a diferentes medidas de variables externas y a múltiples conjuntos de restricciones de signo. Además, al aplicar una identificación agnóstica, Los resultados indican que incluso dejando que la respuesta del PIB no esté restringida, su respuesta a los choques de la oferta crediticia sigue siendo positiva y significativa. Con esta especificación múltiple, el impacto de los shocks de oferta crediticia sobre el crecimiento del PIB oscila entre 0,8% y 1,2% en Perú y Colombia, y entre 0,5% y 0,8% en Chile. Estos resultados se acercan a la estimación de referencia y muestran solidez. En cuanto a México, se estima que el impacto de los choques de oferta crediticia varía entre 0.8% -3.5%.
