RNAcentral is a comprehensive database of non-coding RNA (ncRNA) sequences that provides a single access point to 44 RNA resources and >18 million ncRNA sequences from a wide range of organisms and RNA types. RNAcentral now also includes secondary (2D) structure information for >13 million sequences, making RNAcentral the world’s largest RNA 2D structure database. The 2D diagrams are displayed using R2DT, a new 2D structure visualization method that uses consistent, reproducible and recognizable layouts for related RNAs. The sequence similarity search has been updated with a faster interface featuring facets for filtering search results by RNA type, organism, source database or any keyword. This sequence search tool is available as a reusable web component, and has been integrated into several RNAcentral member databases, including Rfam, miRBase and snoDB. To allow for a more fine-grained assignment of RNA types and subtypes, all RNAcentral sequences have been annotated with Sequence Ontology terms. The RNAcentral database continues to grow and provide a central data resource for the RNA community. RNAcentral is freely available at https://rnacentral.org.

Non-coding RNAs are essential for all life and carry out a wide range of functions. Information about these molecules is distributed across dozens of specialized resources. RNAcentral is a database of non-coding RNA sequences that provides a unified access point to non-coding RNA annotations from >40 member databases and helps provide insight into the function of these RNAs. This article describes different ways of accessing the data, including searching the website and retrieving the data programmatically over web APIs and a public database. ISO 27001 is the international standard for an Information Security Management System (ISMS) that helps to address the triad of information security: Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability (CIA). An ISMS is a systematic approach focused on managing information security within an organization. It encompasses all the information assets, such as: people, processes and IT systems. This paper describes the implementation process of an ISMS in a Brazilian healthcare organization. We use an information system based on ISO standards as an indicator to assess the information security. Using Chi-square with Yates' correction or Fisher's exact test to compare the proportion of adequacy to the requirements of reference standard used, our case study showed positive results in the first ten months of implementation with significant results on multiple items analysed. However, in an environment of limited budgets, better results were not achieved in the following months due to the financial problems to implement specific controls in the organization. The aim of this paper is to present the experience obtained during the implementation of an ISMS in a healthcare organization and to discuss some critical success factors.
Open scientific data is fundamental to support better quality and higher impact reproducible science. The creation of open scientific databases involves a number of challenges, such as the creation of standardized representations of data and metadata from different domains of knowledge, as well as the development of computational resources to assist scientists in collecting and maintaining high-quality data. This paper presents a free software computational platform for the management and sharing of data from Neuroscience experiments. This platform allows to register data and metadata of experiments in a safe and user-friendly way, integrating data records of different types, such as clinical, electrophysiological and behavioral.
