El presente artículo problematiza la construcción de una retórica política de la discapacidad en la producción poética elaborada por la activista y escritora mexicana Gabriela Brimmer (1947-2000). Argumento que el ejercicio de poetización que emprende Brimmer –y que hace parte de su proyecto autobiográfico– desafía las condiciones de producción convencionales de la poesía, acudiendo a formas alternativas de visibilidad autorial y material, que le proporcionan construir un espacio de disidencia corporal investida políticamente por la experiencia encarnada de la parálisis cerebral. De esta manera, Brimmer construye una serie de imágenes que se convierten en un registro testimonial y singular en relación con su experiencia como mujer, escritora y activista. Sostengo que la poesía es un saber alternativo –ni patológico, ni diagnóstico– desde la discapacidad que logra deshacer las imágenes del sufrimiento, la tragedia y el padecimiento asociadas a un sujeto embargado por el discurso médico-rehabilitador.
Este artículo analiza las novelas argentinas recientes El trabajo de los ojos de Mercedes Halfon y El nervio óptico de María Gainza desde la perspectiva de los estudios de la discapacidad, con el objetivo de indagar cómo los usos metafóricos y materiales de los ojos impertinentes de las protagonistas dan cuenta de la construcción de una mirada doble, parcial y situada en la que a la par que se describen objetos artísticos y se consultan archivos médicos, se altera el régimen escópico ocularcéntrico —propio de nuestra era— a través del estrabismo y la diplopía. Sostengo que las narradoras —atravesadas por marcadores de clase y de género— escriben desde sus condiciones oculares con el propósito de revisitar la historia occidental del arte para entrecruzarla con la propia vida y, por otro, examinar y tensionar el archivo de la oftalmología que ha dejado al margen las miradas estrábicas de las mujeres.
Este artículo busca analizar el proceso de textualización del estrabismo en El trabajo de los ojos (2017) de Mercedes Halfon (Buenos Aires, 1980). En esta dirección, interpretamos, en primer lugar, la discapacidad visual de la protagonista como un dispositivo estético que opera en la construcción de un relato híbrido y fragmentario. Y, en segundo lugar, argumentamos cómo la autora elabora una suerte de anarchivo oftalmológico que da cuenta de los procesos de construcción de una política "desviada" de la mirada femenina que le permite confrontar los discursos ocularcentristas y oftalmocéntricos auspiciados por el patriarcado y el capacitismo.
