A continuing education program to science teachers in the context of museum-school relationship Resumen: En este artículo se presentan los resultados de un programa de formación continua con ocho profesores de ciencias naturales de educación básica y media, que integró el trabajo de dos museos de ciencia de la ciudad de Medellín, Colombia, como herramienta pedagógica y didáctica. Los resultados del programa de formación permiten apreciar el gran potencial de los museos como recurso educativo y didáctico para la enseñanza de las ciencias naturales. Como principal conclusión se plantea que el diseño de las Unidades Didácticas como parte de un ciclo de aprendizaje, es lo que establece la diferencia entre la acción pedagógica del docente en relación con la visita en el contexto formal del que realiza un colectivo escolar a un museo en el contexto informal.
Abstract:
En las clases de ciencias naturales se observa que los profesores aplican evaluaciones diagnósticas, pero la información obtenida no suele tenerse en cuenta para ajustar la planeación de la enseñanza. En esta Bio-crónica se identificaron las demandas de aprendizaje (Leach, et ál., 2000) en tres grupos de estudiantes respecto a la modelización de: los efectos del urbanismo sobre un ecosistema de bosque andino, el origen de la vida en la Tierra y la contaminación atmosférica. Al comparar el lenguaje social de los estudiantes (en su Modelo Estudiantil-ME) y el de la ciencia (en el Modelo Disciplinar-MD) emergió la naturaleza (ontológica, epistemológica o de razonamiento) de cada demanda. Los resultados sugieren que una vez identificadas las demandas de aprendizaje y su naturaleza, se facilita al profesor decidir en cuál de las fases de la secuencia de enseñanza y aprendizaje deberían atenderse para ayudar a los estudiantes a la modelización del fenómeno.
Óscar es un profesor principiante del área de ciencias naturales que enseñó el tema de la célula en un grupo de cuarto grado de primaria. Su caso forma parte de una tesis doctoralmás amplia que indaga por la configuración del conocimiento profesional en los primeros años de docencia, especialmente analizando el Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK). La experiencia de este profesor principiante pone en evidencia las intrincadas relaciones entre los componentes pedagógicos, disciplinares (biología) y del contexto y, a su vez, la influencia de estos en la construcción del PCK. Las condiciones institucionales y las creencias que tiene el profesor sobre la ciencia y su enseñanza orientan las decisiones que toma en el aula, mostrando algunas dificultades en la transformación del contenido de este tema; los hallazgos reflexionar sobre su formación inicial y, a la vez, dan indicios sobre la necesidad de generar procesos de acompañamiento para los profesores en esta etapa de la carrera docente, conocida como la inserción profesional.
