El desarrollo de la sexualidad, capítulo trascendental en el desarrollo de la vida, es un proceso que no se inicia en estas edades, sino incluso en etapas prenatales donde se definen caracteres sexuales primarios (9). Tradicionalmente se afirma que los adolescentes inician una vida sexual activa sin tener la información adecuada, situación que se traduce en embarazos no deseados, enfermedades de transmisión sexual, maternidad y paternidad temprana, conductas de evasión siempre negativas y enfermedades de transmisión sexual (9,10).
