Every child deserves access to quality education amidst the COVID 19 pandemic. Students face the test of answering modules much more than doing the performances in the physical education classes. One of the challenges they faced was performing different performance tasks and being able to meet the objectives as well as the learning competencies. This study aimed to determine the barriers in learning performances and students’ coping strategies in physical education in modular distance learning which was accompanied by a quantitative approach using a descriptive – survey method of research. The study was conducted in one of the secondary public schools composed of 201 selected junior high school students. Based on the result of the study, the findings were as follows: majority of the of the respondents were female, grade 9 students and 15 years of age. The barriers exprienced by the students were overthinking about their grades, minimal engagement in performance tasks due to lack of equipments and learning materials, discomfort in doing the task because of distraction at home and unstable internet connection which means it is important to assess and evaluate the learning materials provided in the module to provide accessibility to students capabilities and available materials at home. With regards to students’ coping strategies, it emphasize in developing skills and abilities even in the confinement of home because learning must continue and students have the grit to do their tasks in their modules which indicates the student's opportunities and resiliency was very important factors for the students’ learning and doing performances. To satisfy the students' needs, school leaders must incorporate real methods into their teaching and address their diversity, as well as provide a variety of instructions and learning resources, lesson exemplars, and assistance for the students. To stimulate creativity and assure excellence in educational offerings, colleagues should be given technical assistance and coaching. Professional development should be prioritized during the pandemic to improve intrinsic competencies to plan, manage, and internalize more effective service delivery.
The qualitative research design aims to explore the experiences of Grade 10 students as they were dealing with the new normal of education utilizing a digital modality. This study sheds light on other ways and means of learning and adapting to the modern world using technology. Based on the study's results, five superordinate themes have emerged: flexible, convenient, and safe learning environment, submission challenges, and innovation policy. The digital modality has a substantial impact on the learning of the students. However, they sometimes have difficulty submitting outputs due to a slow internet connection. To reiterate, learning in digital modality is a great help student to in learning capabilities and adapting to change in education and being versatile in learning new different online platforms in simplifying the process and avoiding viruses to spread and becomes safe individual learns and further enhances learning in the modern world of education.
Background: Being inventive and creative in offering effective and efficient teaching and learning processes is one of the priorities of any teacher, especially Physical Education teachers, as the delivery of instruction to students evolves. With these, this study proves and illuminates the usefulness of Google sites in delivering physical education teaching. Objectives: This research aims to determine the effects of Google sites as a medium for delivering Physical Education on the learning outcomes of Grade 10 students in one of the secondary schools in the Philippines. Its specific aims were to: (1) determine the impact of Google sites on availability, functionality, and goals, and (2) establish an enhancement program based on the study's findings. Methods: The study utilized a quantitative research design with descriptive approach accompany with survey questionnaire. The purposive sampling was utilized to 106 students from secondary schools in the Philippines. Results: As the findings of the study geared toward its effectiveness in terms of functionality, availability and learning experience, it shows that most of the lessons delivered and maximizing Google sites as a tool in delivering instruction were appreciated by the students where students were mostly “Strongly Agree” with the responses. With this tool in delivering instruction, it shows light that students can easily understand the lesson in learning and doing tasks using Google sites. Conclusion: This study sheds light on the effective and efficient use of Google sites in delivering instruction in PE classes particularly offers a safe learning virtual environment, accessibility to the learning materials and learned using their own time and autonomy in learning. Using Google Sites to the fullest extent possible in Physical Education classes.
This study assesses the factors affecting students' learning experiences in one of the secondary public schools in the Philippines implementing different learning modalities in distance learning. As a learner-public institution, the school has broadened its implementation of learning by providing wide perspectives to students through online distance learning. The study utilized quantitative and qualitative research designs. Purposive sampling was used in the study consisting of 250 students and 18 students who participated in FGD, where data were collected and obtained through a survey questionnaire and focus group discussions. Distance learning encourages students to learn on their own and explore without the assistance of teachers, enhancing their ability to research topics related to the courses they should learn. With the results of the study, two themes emerged: ICT integration and innovational instruction. Mostly, it aided in the development of independence. Students usually lose concentration in their learning tasks as a result of physical distractions and due to slow internet connection. Regardless of their difficulties, students continue their studies because they have learned that the more difficult the road, the sweeter the result. This study will provide baseline information for the development of the school's strategy on how to strengthen and consolidate distance education.
In the transition to the delivery of instruction, game-based learning in physical education is the key to filling the instructional gap by giving each student the freedom to develop their skills in the 21st century. This study employed a qualitative research design using a phenomenological approach to acquire an in-depth understanding of students' learning experiences through game-based learning in Physical Education. Participants were chosen through purposive sampling which was participated by 7 students from the Grade 10 level in one of the secondary public schools in the Philippines. Codes and themes were transcribed in the study. Based on the research results, three themes emerged: innovative approach, the functionality of the application, and student engagement and authentic learning experience. Physical education teachers have become innovative and creative in how to deliver instruction, especially in the areas of cognitive and skills acquisition using a game-based approach. This is done to help all students to be creative and adapt to the modern learning environment. This application was practical, usable and accessible for every student both inside and outside of the classroom with offline and online features. This study will equip Physical Education teachers with clarity and a road map to the modern world. This will also provide the required support for students to shift away from traditional classroom learning and become more innovative by producing mobile apps that provide students with games and the freedom to absorb the lesson through a game-based approach.
