Candida parapsilosis é uma espécie de fungo leveduriforme que apresenta resistência a alguns fármacos antifúngicos. O objetivo desse estudo foi investigar o perfil de resistência de Candida parapsilosis frente aos principais antimicóticos (azóis, anfotericina B, 5-flucitosina, voriconazol e equinocandinas). Foi desenvolvida uma revisão sistemática da literatura, considerando-se os critérios de inclusão e de exclusão determinados na metodologia. A resistência aos poliênicos e às equinocandinas é pouco comum entre C. parapsilosis. Embora esta espécie seja normalmente sensível aos azólicos, há baixa frequência de resistência antifúngica para esta classe de fármacos, principalmente para o voriconazol. Além disso, C. parapsilosis também pode apresentar resistência antifúngica para flucitosina. Portanto, sugere-se estratégias para se evitar e combater o aparecimento de resistência aos antifúngicos, como, por exemplo, a correta identificação ao nível de espécie e escolha de um antifúngico mais adequado para a mesma, uso correto nas dosagens do fármaco, aderência do paciente ao tratamento, acompanhamento das mudanças no perfil de suscetibilidade das leveduras e estudos de vigilância epidemiológica.
