Muitos estudos tentam verificar qual a melhor técnica, forma de execução e duração de um alongamento capaz de melhorar a amplitude de movimentode uma articulação, mas poucos analisam essas variáveis em crianças. Objetivo: Avaliar dois tempos diferentes de alongamento estático-ativo para a região lombar e isquiotibiais em crianças entre 7 e 11 anos para se ter melhoras significativas. Métodos: 41 crianças realizaram uma avaliação de flexibilidade da região lombar e isquiotibiais. A amostra foi dividida em dois grupos os quais realizaram alongamento estático-ativo com 1 série, 2 vezes por semana durante 4 semanas. O grupo (G1min) sustentou o alongamento por 1 minuto e o grupo (G30seg) sustentou por 30 segundos, ao final foi realizada a reavaliação. Utilizou-se a estatística descritiva e o teste t de Student pareado, sendo considerado significante (p < 0,05). Resultados: Os dois grupos tiveram uma melhora significativa na flexibilidade (p < 0,05). Analisando a diferença do ganho de flexibilidade dos dois grupos, percebemos pequena vantagem do grupo G1min, porém essa diferença não é significativa (p > 0,05). O resultado, que concorda com estudos em adultos já realizados, indica que apenas 1 série de 30segundos já resulta numa melhora significativa para alongamento de isquiotibiais. Mas ainda há muito a se estudar dos efeitos do alongamento principalmente em crianças na fase de crescimento. Conclusão: O ganho deflexibilidade em crianças para a musculatura isquiotibial em uma sessão de 30 segundos com alongamento estático-ativo já é suficiente para se obter melhorassignificativas ao final de 4 semanas.Palavras-chave: flexibilidade, alongamento, crianças, treinamento.
