Objetivo: Analisar o processo de F & A (Fusões & Aquisições), nomeadamente o processo de aquisição para empresas europeias. O objetivo principal é uma visão geral do impacto das aquisições no desempenho das empresas adquirentes e daqueles que são os indicadores e metodologias mais utilizados para esse fim.Metodologia/abordagem: Neste estudo realizou-se uma visão geral sobre a revisão de literatura, que permitiu sistematizar as tipologias e práticas mais comuns na análise do tema em estudo. Foi realizada uma busca de evidências científicas publicados em artigos científicos entre 1987 e 2022 disponíveis nos idiomas inglês e português. Foi analisado e adicionado à pesquisa outras fontes científicas, tais como livros e sites. Estudos que não apresentaram relevância para a analise proposto foram excluídos.Resultados: Os resultados apontam para diferentes conclusões e divergências quando se analisa a performance de um processo de F & A. Estes diferentes resultados estão relacionados por vezes com o período em análise, crises económicas e financeiras envolventes, dimensão da amostra, medidores de performance ou meios envolventes.Originalidade: Nos últimos anos verificou-se uma instabilidade económica e financeira que poderá resultar num maior número de processos de reestruturação, pondo o tema na ordem do dia.
