Improvements to the diets of schizophrenic patient led to improvements in anthropometric measurements and biochemical variables and reduced the health risks caused by antipsychotic medications. Furthermore, we hypothesize that antipsychotic medications do not have any direct effect on leptin and ghrelin metabolism, and that changes in hormone metabolism may be attributable to changes in body weight.
There were no consistent results in the clinical, immunological, microbiological, and epidemiological studies that investigated the relationship between schizophrenia and celiac disease. This presents a need for a larger scale study to confirm the presence of this suggested correlation between schizophrenia and celiac disease. The underlying mechanisms between the two diseases should be explored.
Katılımcıların 7-11 yaş aralığında bulunan %46,3'sı her gün, %24,1'i haftada 3 gün sebze tükettiklerini belirtmiştir.
A An na ah h t ta ar r K Ke e l li i m me e l le er r: : Kurkumin; metabolik sendrom; diabetes mellitus; hipertansiyon A AB BS S T TR RA AC CT T Curcumin is derived from the roots of the plant Curcuma longa known as turmeric. Curcumin mediates glucose homeostasis through activation of glycosis, inhibition of hepatic gluconeogenesis and reducing lipid metabolism. As a nuclear factor kappa B inhibitor, curcumin helps to alleviate insulin resistance; activates peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma and shows hypoglycemic effects and thus suppresses increases in blood glucose levels. There are studies showing that curcumin may have an effect on insulin secretion. By regulating the expression of the Ang II Type-1 receptor in the arteries, it can prevent the development of hypertension, an important component of the metabolic syndrome. The triglyceride-lowering effects of curcumin were confirmed in various experimental studies. In addition to the effects on the lipid metabolism, there is some evidence that curcumin can reduce body weight by increasing the basal metabolic rate and release of some cytokines. Curcumin was found to reduce hepatic fat accumula...
