This multifaceted activities developed generates a load of diversified wastes and many times of difficult remediation. HEI as a generating unit, have a responsibility on the treatment and disposal of generated wastes. In this context, this work aim an analysis through the application of unstructured questionnaire on the disposal and handling way of chemical wastes, and in the socio environmental profile of 24 collaborators in 8 laboratories of the studied university. The results indicate that a substantial part of the chemical wastes generated are inadequately disposed in the sewer or in common trash. Those which are stored are precariously, many times because of the ignorance of the generators, who even with environmental intentions don't have any technical and scientific knowledge for that. This way, actions developed by HEI itself can solve a good part of the problems, creating discussion groups, disciplines, research and extension on the chemical wastes treatment area, in order to use the environmental education as a premise of an effective management plan.
