To take into account the variation of the recombination velocity at the grain boundaries, we present in this paper a new approach of characterization of the solar cells, based on the two dimensional finite element method. The results of this study on a bifacial polycrystalline silicon solar cell, modelled in the rectangular form, highlighting the effects of the boundary recombination velocity (S gb) on the solar cell electrical parameters. The photogenerated excess carrier's density, the photocurrent density; the phototovoltage and the current-voltage characteristics are analyzed, namely. A good agreement with the results given in the literature is observed.
Abstract-In this paper, we present results of characterization of a bifacial silicon solar cell, under multispectral steady state illumination, using finite element method (FEM). The illumination level (n) and back surface recombination velocities (Sb) effects on solar cell electrical parameters have been highlighted. After solving the continuity equation that describes the solar cell operation, the excess minority carrier's density and current-voltage characteristics are determined for various values of illumination level and recombination velocities on the junction and the back surface of the solar cell. The results obtained are in agreement with those given by analytical methods and prove that the photovoltaic cells can be analyzed only by numerical methods, such as the FEM, characterized by their robustness and flexibility in their applications in a context where those methods take more and more importance in the development of Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools.
A new multimodal variational formulation (NVMF) analysis is used for a rigorous analysis of four microwave subsystems with multiple discontinuities: one double-step and one quadruplestep empty-ridged waveguide discontinuity, one iris-coupled cavities filter with four resonators and one impedance transformer. The Sparameters of each structure are deduced from its total impedance matrix, without cascading the S-parameters of individual discontinuities as with the most methods based on mode-matching technique; the convergence study versus the accessible modes is no long necessary, which makes this passive microwave circuit's analysis and design tool very efficient.
The constantly growing needs in terms of speed and bandwidth, especially all services using data has become greedy. Today optical fiber is the medium of choice for many advantages over others channels. although the optical fiber has taken the label of transmission channels, we won’t be able to do without its nonlinear character and dispersions, which are part of the major problems during optical transmission. In this article, we are presenting the use of optical solitons in the fiber optic link, with a particular way; we have considered two kind of links, the underground one and the overhead one, in the first link, we have applied optical soliton in order to just take into account the optical Kerr effect. And for the overhead link, we can transmit for short distance by using the return to zero modulation’s format and the use of optical Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifiers (EDFA). The solitons which are the impulses, capable of propagating in the nonlinear optical fiber and dispersive without any distortion; to justify our hypothesis, we compare a dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) without soliton and the dense wavelength division multiplexing with solitons; we notice that, the link with soliton is better than the first because the pulse keeps its shape from the source up to the destination, its eye diagram is opened which means there is no much noises. After the simulations in Matlab and optisystem software, we went to Congo telecom, to do our test with the optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR), for both installations. From that study while transmitting over 100km it is better to use optical solitons with the high speed.
