NØKKELORD funksjonsnedsettelser | individuelle og samfunnsmessige barrierer | hjelpetilbud ABSTRACT People with disability have a greater risk of being victims of violence compared to the general population. However, fewer seek help and the violence seems harder to uncover. Possible reasons for this is the topic of this chapter. We shed light on two main reasons, one is how having a disability may represent an individual barriers for seeking help, and the other is how ignorance and lack of knowledge in help services become a structural barrier. We discuss hos such barriers can be reduced in order to achieve equal services.
