La garúa es una lluvia fina y persistente. Siempre ha estado presente en de la nuestro sur y sur austral. En ella se oculta una espontánea y bella arquitectura, plena y colmada de historia, la arquitectura vernácula. En este libro, la gata Adela nos cuenta de su mundo y sus aventuras. Ella vive en la localidad de Los Laureles —en la Región de La Araucanía— junto a su familia de antiguos gatos carpinteros, quienes atesoran el gran significado y valor de la arquitectura vernácula. Adela es una joven gata muy curiosa e inquieta. Sin embargo, su propósito más profundo es que nosotros podamos conocer esa arquitectura, algo invisible y oculta, que sus parientes carpinteros han construido durante décadas a lo largo y ancho de nuestro país. Así, tal como la garúa envuelve las maderas y techumbres de la arquitectura vernácula, mediante imágenes y relatos, Adela busca envolvernos en la realidad del mundo de la vernacularidad arquitectónica y su magia imperecedera. Este libro es una invitación a sumergirse en un viaje a nuestro pasado y a nuestro presente. Frente al impacto de la modernidad en las formas tradicionales de construir, la gata Adela nos muestra el camino a la valorización, la recuperación y el reconocimiento.
