Neste estudo, temos como objetivo refletir sobre a relevância da linguística de contato (Pratt, 2013) na educação linguística – especialmente no ensino básico e na formação docente de Língua Inglesa. Para tanto, à luz das considerações prattianas (2013), analisamos o padrão de homogeneidade inerente à comunidade imaginada e refletido na comunidade linguística. A fim de apresentar alternativas que vão de encontro a atitudes limitantes no ensino/formação de língua inglesa, reentextualizamos dois exemplos. O primeiro demonstra uma atividade sobre gênero trabalhada a partir da autorreflexão de uma professora em uma sala de aula de ensino básico (Pessoa; Hoelzle, 2017), confrontando simultaneamente um exemplo de diálogo típico de materiais didáticos de inglês. Tal diálogo configura-se como uma amostra fiel da perspectiva de uma linguística de comunidade, envolto por padrões de homogeneidade e linearização. O segundo exemplo, num momento de formação docente (Bastos et al, 2021), traz uma atividade que desconstrói o modelo ideal de falante nativo. Acreditamos que ações como estas, que abraçam a perspectiva de uma linguística de contato diante de uma língua ainda considerada hegemônica, estabelecem caminhos viáveis para o combate às utopias linguísticas (Pratt, 2013) nas escolas e nas universidades.

Neste texto, problematizamos as narrativas de Angela, uma egressa do sistema prisional feminino goiano, residente em uma cidade do interior do estado de Goiás. Apoiamo-nos na perspectiva crítica da Linguística Aplicada, nos estudos sobre interseccionalidade de gênero e nos pressupostos foucaultianos sobre poder e corpo. Objetivamos problematizar o cárcere por meio de uma voz de uma pessoa que vivenciou e vivencia as dificuldades sociais diariamente. As discussões mostram que o cárcere é visto, pela perspectiva de um ex-presidiária, como um ambiente cheio de estigmas e preconceitos sociais, invisibilizando cada vez mais um sujeito que sócio-historicamente foi apagado da própria sociedade.
